An issue has been identified on systems with Intel/nVidia card combos in which Winstep applications fail to work properly. Symptoms include the following:

1. Weather module not working.

2. The Winstep Update Manager is unable to contact the Winstep update server.

3. The clock module does not announce the time or only says 'The time is...'

4. List of running applications does not update when opening or closing applications.

5. Under Winstep Xtreme, when changing a theme in WorkShelf the NextSTART component would not update the theme accordingly and vice-versa.

This problem was tracked to a DLL error being erroneously reported by 3rd party software on such systems when sub-classing the main Winstep control window.

Even though the sub-classing operation itself succeeded, the error notification caused the sub-classing operation to abort which, in turn, prevented operations that required system notifications from working properly.

New betas of Winstep Xtreme, Nexus Ultimate and Nexus, which fix this issue, have been released:

Winstep Xtreme users can download the new beta from:

Nexus Ultimate users can download the new beta from:

Nexus users can download the new beta from:

IMPORTANT: This beta package is an update and MUST be installed on top of a previous Winstep Xtreme/Nexus Ultimate/Nexus v11.6 or later installation!

Before running the Setup file, remember to exit all Winstep applications first.

My laptop has an Intel I7 & Nvidia FX880M. Not sure if that's the combo you're looking for. I looked through the list and none of the first 3 occur on my machine.

Aren't you using the betas described above already?

Well, right, the betas fix the Intel/nVidia combo issue.
