Not sure if this will work, but it's worth a try.

DL and install CCleaner and Revo Uninstaller free versions.

http://download.cnet.com/CCleaner/3000- ... ag=mncol;1

http://download.cnet.com/Revo-Uninstall ... ag=mncol;1

Once they are installed, clear your browser cache. Make sure you don't clear out your passwords by accident.

Open CCleaner and click on Analyze. After it's done it will tell you. If you've never used it before it will find a lot of crap and it might take 5 mins. Then click Run Cleaner.

When that's done, click on the Applications tab and repeat. If it shows 0, just click on the Registry icon at the far left. Click Scan for Issues. When done it will tell you. Click Fix selected issues, then select whether or not you want to backup changes to the Registry. I never do, but that's totally up to you. Then click Fix Issue(s). Close CCleaner.

Open Revo Uninstaller and click on the Tools icon at the top. Click on Junk Files Cleaner at the left. If you don't see it, that means it's on the wrong category. It should say Optimization at the top of the grey area. If it says Tracks Cleaner at the top of the grey area, look at the bottom and click on Optimization and then click Junk Files Cleaner.

Click on the Scan icon on the toolbar at the top. Once the scan is finished the Delete icon next to it won't be grayed-out anymore and you will be able to click on it. It will delete all pertinent files. Close Revo Unistaller.

The next step is to restart your PC and go into Safe Mode. To go into Safe Mode, keep tapping the F8 key at the top of your keyboard right before you sense something is going to show on the screen. You will have to use the arrow keys and Enter key to navigate into Safe Mode. Don't go into Safe Mode With Networking.

Once in Safe Mode come out and boot back into Windows. Let me know if works. It worked for me when the temp readings showed N/A in the first day.

My guess is that you deleted the Winstep folders containing the weather icon images. Re-installing the full version on top of your current installation should fix this.

Only if you disable it for everything else: open WorkShelf Preferences, go to the General tab, click on the More Options button, change 'Show Balloon tooltip...' from Always to Never.

Sadly ....i had already tried that (and still have it set to never)
but the pop up ballon still appears

but its okay ..i just removed the weather module from my desktop and put it in my DOCK instead

the CPU and other module pop ups are much smaller and less invasive
*just the weather one always gave a 5 day prediction and the ballon was HUGE

--> must say though...i love the 5 day forecast mini dock that appears with this set up anywayz
so all in all ..it worked out wonders !!

so thanks too you both for all your help

and ya, Jorge --- reinstalling it fixed whatever glitch was causing the weather icons from failing to load ! CHEERS

SIDE QUESTION .... wondering if you have a detailed listing of the weather module pictures that corelate with weather.com

AS ID LIKE TO MAKE MY OWN CUSTOM ICONSbut in the winstep folder they are listed as 01 - 02 - 03 ...up to... 34 - 35 etc etc

(some are pretty obvious to understand ..but there are a few im a little confused about) so if you have a guide list, it'd BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Thanks for your time and understanding
and of course --> THE GREAT PRODUCT !!!!

Hmmm, I don't really have a list at hand.

When the weather module was first developed, it relied on METAR information only (i.e.; only displayed current conditions based on information from airports all over the world). As such, only a sub-set of the normal range of weather icons was needed and so their numbers ended up being different from those used by weather.com and most other weather widgets out there.

In retrospect a bad decision, but, as usual, foresight is 20/20.

unless you are going to hand clean the registry do not play with it. never auto-clean the registry regardless of what anyone tells you, and never use one of those registry defraggers,

wouldnt need to touch anything with registry
the registry just points to that file...which would load whatever image is in the folder

as long as you re-title your new file the EXACT SAME....as well as keep it the same dimensions etc etc You're Good To Go !!!

*as ive already done a few tests with a couple custom icons
but as a whole......I DONT KNOW ALL THE DEPICTIONS that correspond with whatever weather changes are made (cause some of the images are VERY SIMILAR LOOKING :( )

refering to these

Image

--> which is why i was hoping the 01-35 icons that are supplied with winstep came from a listing somewhere, so i could accurately create new images properly

so it doesnt really matter about weather.com..or from METAR -- as they all use the images provided by your product / or from whoever initially created them

if ya know what i mean :!:

Ok, so if what you want is a description of the images, hopefully the following internal names might help:

Public Const rs_METARNotAvailable = 1
Public Const rs_METARThunder = 2
Public Const rs_METARHail = 3
Public Const rs_METARSnow = 4
Public Const rs_METARHeavySnow = 5
Public Const rs_METARLightRain = 6
Public Const rs_METARRain = 7
Public Const rs_METARHeavyRain = 8
Public Const rs_METARHaze = 9
Public Const rs_METARFog = 10
Public Const rs_METARDust = 11
Public Const rs_METARSmoke = 12
Public Const rs_METARSunClear = 13
Public Const rs_METARSunLightClouds = 14
Public Const rs_METARSunClouds = 15
Public Const rs_METARSunHeavyClouds = 16
Public Const rs_METARMoonClear = 17
Public Const rs_METARMoonLightClouds = 18
Public Const rs_METARMoonClouds = 19
Public Const rs_METARMoonHeavyClouds = 20
Public Const rs_METARSnowAndRain = 21
Public Const rs_METARWindy = 22
Public Const rs_METARFrozen = 23
Public Const rs_METARHot = 24
Public Const rs_METARWindAndRain = 25
Public Const rs_METARSunAndThunder = 26
Public Const rs_METARMoonAndThunder = 27
Public Const rs_METARSunAndRain = 28
Public Const rs_METARMoonAndRain = 29
Public Const rs_METARIcyAndLightRain = 30
Public Const rs_METARIcyAndRain = 31
Public Const rs_METARIcyAndSnow = 32
Public Const rs_METARLightSnow = 33
Public Const rs_METARBlowingSnow = 32
Public Const rs_METARWindAndSnow = 33

Icons 34 and 35 are currently not used, IIRC.
