Since the other Windows 8 thread turned out to be nothing more than a waste of time to read, due to all the Microsoft bashing; And please, people, grow up. Big corporations are what they are because our capitalistic free market, which the last time I checked, makes the USA one damn nice place to live. So started a new thread.

I am running Windows 8 pro, and I like it. It seems very stable and has nice features. I have even thought about adding a touch screen monitor to the middle of my three screen display, just to enjoy its new navigation setup. But being a two year winstep extreme customer, I have one problem. The nextstart replacement menu/task bar acts quirky at boot. For the first 5 or so minutes, I can only see the right and left sides of the bar, with the middle completely missing. Any thoughts? Other than trashing the developers.

it's either something in the final 8 release or something else you installed that is causing the problem. i ran xtreme on the beta prior to rtm and had no issues what so ever. on another note don't tell peeps to growup.

Thanks Chuck. Took the words right out of my keyboard. :D

Incidentally, the world is not limited to the USA. "Your" wonderful capitalist free market would be rather different without intervention; remember how nicely (and anti-capitalistically) AT&T was sliced up in the early 80s? That was done, just to protect you nice american peeps from the niceties of the one inevitability of the wonderful capitalist free market: monopoly.
If you love being locked up in one and still marvel at whatever shite they serve you to make you pay up, that's your prerogative.
Moreover, last time I checked, "free market" doesn't mean "go and buy whatever they throw at you, without talking". "Free market" is about choices and the ability to see, judge, compare, speak up and criticise whatever you *don't* like and, ultimately, *don't* buy. "Free market" was never meant as "just buy and shut up".
If "growing up" means falling into that state, then I seriously hope I never grow up. ;)
Cheers.

Does this happen with any other themes? Does it happen if you exit and then re-start NextSTART?

I also have a problem whereby windowed games (specifically EVE Online run in a window) are overlapped by the dock if "Popup dock on mouse over" is enabled and will not return to the background unless another window or the desktop is activated, and the dock moused over again. I've also had a couple of random issues with the dock locking up for a second or two when accidentally dragging icons around on the dock instead of launching them. I've also had one runtime error that shut NeXuS down completely, and that was when I manipulated the dock right after Windows 8 had loaded. I've been unable to test any beta version (if a current one exists) because I haven't been granted access to the Beta Forum after 17 days since I applied to join it.
