v14.11.0999 on Windows 7 Pro at system startup takes a very long time to "initialize" and have the dock appear. Once it does appear it works perfectly smoothly. So, I just UNchecked for it to start at Windows startup. I'll see if it works any faster when started manually. This makes me wonder too if there's a config file, an 'ini' that could be uploaded for your inspection. I really would prefer that it did Auto-start.

Windows handles all the start-up stuff...

At system start-up *everything* is loading simultaneously, so if your system is disk based instead of SSD based, things will be slow for a while as the disk heads move back and fro like mad. Nothing to do with the dock itself, though - *unless* you have shortcuts in it to networked drives, etc... all that stuff needs to be initialized.

Thanks, interesting. It seems though that Windows itself doesn't delay (for me) when displaying 6 pinned things on the Taskbar. A similar pinning on the Nexus dock would be quite quick. Or, maybe just an internal DB of pointers to the programs? I don't understand why the dock needs to move the disk heads just to locate the docked program icons.

Btw I can tell you that just after posting the first bit I quit the dock. Then, without rebooting, restarting it was almost instant. It remembered.

Windows biggest priority is obviously loading itself, THEN third party applications.

When I talked about intensive hard disk usage at startup I didn't mean it regarding Nexus, but about loading into memory everything that Windows needs to work PLUS third party applications set to run at startup.

Anyway, Nexus usually loads really quickly, even at startup.

OK thanks Jorge. I've now tried Nexus as a manual start after the boot was over. Pretty quick! Nice, so now I think the Nexus autostart is so slow for me because of something else simultaneously loading - either my tweaked Windows 7 or something 3rd-party (which I do try to keep minimal). And obviously you can't test for those.

If there was some conflict you'd heard of from other users you'd obviously tell me, so I guess we can drop this subject. THANKS FOR THE FINE PROGRAM AND YOUR SUPPORT.
