I'm looking at "Tasklist Settings: Style", but the two options don't really work the way they should... Classic works like Windows XP (which it should), but "Windows 7" does not work like Windows 7... it actually works like Windows XP, but with labels turned off... essentially, the "Quick Launch" bar is still there, which does not exist in Windows 7.

I actually much prefer the true Windows 7 style taskbar... in particular, if I have an application on the task bar (let's say Thunderbird email), and I run the application, I should *still* only have one icon, just highlighted differently. With Winstep, and style=Windows7, I have *two* icons for that program, one on the Quick Launch bar that should not exist, and another on the "active apps" bar. I don't like this... I really want the Windows 7 style task bar, I think it is much more efficient.

Is there some way to modify Winstep to generate a true Win7 task bar?? This is wasting alot of space, and rather causing me headaches (because I usually have many applications running!).

The 'Windows 7' style is more visual than anything else. Other than that, the Quick Launch and Tasklist sections still work independently from each other.

And don't forget you can detach the tasklist (and system tray) from the taskbar if you want, making them 'floating' elements and thus allowing you to get rid of the taskbar container itself.

Okay, I can live with this... I *would* have liked the true Windows 7 layout, which I think is very handy, but it's not important enough to give up Winstep!!!!
