To get firmly back on topic, it's a pity we can't have the whole website inc. forum automatically adopt Dark or Light Mode, according to system mode, as some websites do. Of course, I realise we can't have that as it would require a radical redesign of the site and forum from the ground up as it were. :(

It might be possible, but sincerely I think that having a toggle for registered/logged in forum users is already "good enough", given the complete lack of an alternative not that long ago. :D

If a guest really wants dark mode, they can simply create an account in the forums.

Yeah, it'll do - anything else might be inviting trouble anyway. :)

But when the board throws you out - happens fairly often as I'm using TOR so my IP changes from time to time - and you suddenly face the standard Light Mode it does come as a bit rattling. ;)

Is it my impression or is the dark version of the forums actually just a tiny bit harder to read than the light version?

The CSS in the dark mode is using Segoe UI instead of Tahoma.

Ok, this will look quite different depending on the browser's rendering engine, and even then the same engine can yield different results in different browsers. E.g., it looks a little bigger in my TOR browser than in Firefox, in Ubuntu 22.04 LTS ("Jammy").

Also, I have to say that here from the start of Dark Mode, the DM text appeared noticeably larger than the LM one, in all browsers/OSes. Odd, but there it is. :) It's probably down to the contrast. (Incidentally, I've been given 20/20 vision again - fantastic! 8) )

Not really much of a difference here. But as I said, DM fornt size seemed fine here from the start and actually seemed bigger than LM. As I also said, I think it probably is more down to contrast than anything. :)

Oh bloomin' heck! i now see what you mean by bigger! Uncomfortably so actually AFAIC. Also means I get a lot less content on a page. :(

Ok, I decreased the font size from 14px back to 13px, but kept the increased font weights.

Looks to me it is just as readable as the light mode version now but without the larger font size.

Without feedback from other users on this thread, this is the best I can do.

Just perfect now Jorge. :D In fact, AFAIC, DM is now definitely easier to read than LM.

Pity folks seem to have become more apathetic still than usual. :(
