First, making multiple posts about the same subject is not going to help you.

Second, there is nothing to fix as this is not a bug, it's simply how it works - to reserve a section of the screen edge for a toolbar you use the Window's Appbars interface. This does two things: prevents desktop icons from using the 'reserved space' and also prevents maximized windows from covering that space. You cannot have one without the other.

You can either run your browser full screen (this is NOT the same as maximized), which will make it cover up the dock, or you can set the dock to auto-hide. The latter does not reserve screen space, so desktop icons still appear below the dock when you show it - on the other hand, the dock will only be visible 'on demand' and thus won't get in the way.

You're complaining about this forgetting that the Windows taskbar works in exactly the same way.

Firstly, let me thank you for Winstep Nexus. It is the best dock application I have found so far, and I reckon to having tried a significant share of them.
Secondly, I would like to add emphasis on a suggestion that has already been made, as I share that point.

To conserve space, I would much rather see launcher/running tasks implemented as to not have an open application appear in the running tasks list if it is already present on the launcher.

I am a strong supporter of this suggestion; I would in fact say that it is the only major flaw I found within this dock, and quite possibly the single reason which is still dissuading me from purchasing the Ultimate edition.

Quote:
Clicking and holding down the left mouse button on the launch icon should bring up the thumbnail/preview list.

I would disagree with this, though: for consistency, it would be advisable to keep the same behaviour across the platform; namely, preview on mouseover (a delay can be set, as it already is, to prevent "thumbnailstorms" on quick mouse swipes).

jorge, i did think of another item that i would like to see. i noticed that locking the icons to prevent dragging is a global setting. i would like to maintain the ability to drag items to and from the workshelf, drag items between tabs, drag items into folders that are on a shelf tag while still having the icons locked on the dock(s).

I've changed it so only 'Regular' tabs are locked and you can still drop stuff into non-regular (e.g.; file system) tabs. You can already drop items into shortcuts to folders on Regular tabs, even if icons are locked.

That's because you are trying to drag from the Shelf itself, and until the change I just made that was not permitted either if icons were locked. Try dragging from an Explorer folder instead.

ok i think we are on separate pages here. if i uncheck lock items to prevent dragging i can go to the desktop tab, click and hold on say xyz.exe, drag it to the my downloads tab and either drop(move) it there or drag it over say the browsers folder icon, drop(move) it and it will be moved off the desktop and moved into my downloads or my browsers folder.

ok i just unticked the box again, went to the desktop tab, clicked, held, and dragged a folder to the my downloads tab, the box for moving came up, and the folder and it's files were moved. i then did the same on the same on the same folder in my downloads tab, and dragged it on top of the general utilities folder and the folder was moved into general utilities. if i leave the box ticked i cannot do any dragging from or to the shelf, nor can i drag between tabs.

I said 'Drag a file FROM an *Explorer* window INTO a *shortcut to a folder* in the Shelf'. :-P

You're still talking about dragging stuff between different tabs in the Shelf. Anyway, doesn't matter, I've changed things already. :P

ok i'll go back to what i originally asked. i know the features i want still work, so no issue there. for now i just have to be more careful clicking shortcuts on the dock, so i don't end up having to replace a shortcut because i accidentally moved it. what i had ask was if it was possible to separate out the "lock icons and prevent them from being dragged" setting for the dock and workshelf?

edit:
as for dragging items from an explorer window to the shelf i never do that. if i have explorer open it is to find a file(s), move multiple files to the folder they belong in, or update the backups of my drives. i did test this for you though and it works like a charm.

ok, one more item i noticed i have placed two icon strips on the desktop. when i mouse over them on the desktop tab they are animated. icons or items being animated on the dock for me is one thing, because i see the dock more than i see the shelf or nextstart combined. on the shelf i really don't need animated icons. in a future build is there a chance of you separating out the animation setting per shelf and docks(s)?

No. Much easier if just move those animated icon strips from the Windows Desktop into another folder.

ok, then how about posting a quick tutorial here on how to cutout a single icon from a animation script while keeping the transparency of it's background? that way for ones that are in a tab and matched on the dock i can have the one on the tab static and still have a animated version on the dock.

Eh? Open Photoshop and crop the strip to the first image, then save as a PNG with a different name.

1)
A progress bar background for tasklist buttons for nexstart ->

if there is a 'nn%' in the name of window,
it would have changed like win7 tasklist button style.

2)
a custom list maker for Wanda.
I could save my scripting tips in those lists.
So it would be an efficient way of learning, or to refresh
scripting knowledge time to time.

3)
excluding taskbar icons from taskbar transparency changes.

4)
emptying recycler with middle click on it.

5)
analog clock pop-up window with bigger image on it (and an optional calendar image)

6)
nicer and tiny hotspot button images.

7)
a better priority for custom icons of tasklist.
Because now, if I change an explorer.exe icon,
it changes my custom folder icons too, what I customized
by their names.

2. You can make your own Wanda tips:

Wanda comes with a set of four 'fortune cookie' (or quotes) text files. In this section you can specify which cookie files to use, depending on your mood. Cookie files are text files stored in the 'C:\Users\Public\Documents\WinStep\Winstep\Wanda' folder. If you want, you can modify the existing ones or even add your own.

Cookie files are ASCII text files that have a .SRC file type. Each cookie can be any length and each line should be terminated by CR/LF (just press ENTER in Notepad). Cookies are delimited by a single line containing %% or % followed by CR/LF - this signals the end of one cookie and the start of the next.

As an example, the text below contains 3 cookies:

%%
Anything worth doing is worth overdoing
%%
It will be advantageous to cross the great stream...the Dragon is on
the wing in the Sky...the Great Man rouses himself to his Work.
%%
If you perceive that there are four possible ways in which a procedure
can go wrong, and circumvent these, then a fifth way will promptly
develop.
%%

3. You can't do that, but give the following a try: open NextSTART Preferences, go to the Taskbar tab, click the Tasklist Settings button, click the Advanced button, have a look at the Appearance section. There you will be able to make the tasklist itself semi-transparent, and combine that with the 'Highlight Icon' or 'Highlight Button' effects, which render the button or icon opaque on mouseover.

4. Err... Is it really worth the effort when you can just right click it and select 'Empty Recycle Bin' from the context menu? I mean, how many times a day do you empty the Recycle bin?

5. You mean what you get when you click on the system tray time in the Windows 7 taskbar? You can get the same by clicking the clock module in a dock or Shelf or double clicking the desktop clock module.

6. Hotspot button backgrounds are provided by the currently selected theme. You can change those images, and, in the Hotspot Properties Editor, you can also set the size of the hotspot button/icon.

7. Hmmm... I'll have to look into that.
