Right click on the actual sub-dock icon in the Shelf, you'll find a 'Dock Properties' entry at the bottom of the context menu.

Unfortunately the dock will still open vertically, but I'm thinking about adding an extra option to change that.

Ok I didn't see that, thank you. But icon drag & drop is not easy at all in those subdocks : changing icon order is difficult, and even adding a new icon is not convenient at all. For example when you drag a file onto the subdock icon, it should add a icon in the subdock, but that doesn't work.

Hmmm, you're right, the sub-dock should open automatically when you drag an item over the sub-dock icon, but that isn't happening. I'll fix that for the next release.

And do you manage to drag icons within the subdoc and change their order ? It doesn't work for me, if I try to drag an icon it can only be removed from the subdock.

Besides, sorry to insist but do you think it would be difficult to add a feature to create a "subshelf" ? When you click on the subshelf icon, it would just replace the window by a subwindow just like in Windows explorer when you click on a folder, and there would be a "parent folder" button to go back to the main window. I know I can just create normal Windows folders and put them in the shelf but it will bring me to a normal Windows window, not to a nice-looking customized Winstep shelf.

What exactly is the problem with re-arranging icons in the sub-dock? Just tried it here and it works just like as in other docks. Of course, if you've set the 'Lock icons and prevent them from being dragged' setting in the General tab of WorkShelf Preferences, then that would explain your inability to re-arrange the items within the sub-dock.

And no, I won't be implementing shelves within shelves, sorry. That's just too confusing and they were not built for that.

No, I didn't lock the icons.

The problem is when I click on an icon to drag it, the subdock becomes dark and I can only move the icon anywhere out of the dock, but not in the subdock itself.

Ok I understand.

Any chance of a screenshot, please?

I think you'll be able to get an image into the clipboard while dragging the item by pressing the PRTSCN key - then you can paste the image into a program like MS Paint, save it as JPG, and post it here.

Ah, regarding the sub-dock opening automatically when you move a dragged item over it, I just implemented that but it's giving me problems with other stuff, problems that are proving to be hard to track - given the current weather feed situation, I'm not sure I'll have time to fix those issues before the next release (which probably means the feature won't make it to v11.10).

Ah, I see, it doesn't turn black, the sub-dock actually goes *behind* the Shelf (which has a semi-transparent black background). Anyway, that's one of the issues I mentioned above - which I think I just solved, so you'll probably get that open on drag feature I mentioned in v11.10 after all. :D

Ok, thank you very much, I really appreciate your quick support.

By the way, is there a chance that one day Winstep might support APNG ? It's a great format although for silly reasons it's still not officially recognized. That would be much easier to create animated icons. I personally use this format a lot for my web site and it's awesome.

There was already a discussion here regarding APNGs.

Ok I posted there, thanks.

Would it be difficult to add an option to prevent the shelf from closing ? I personally have it always unfolded and I don't like to close it accidentally.

If you have auto-hide disabled for the Shelf, the only way it will close is if you click the little collapse/un-collapse mini-tab marker at the right (in which case what you are asking for is akin to asking Microsoft to remove the close button in the windows).

You can close it by clicking on the title of the tab too, that's how I accidentally close it. But I understand what you mean, the shelf is meant to be closed when not used, I guess I'm not using it the way it was intended.

By the way, are you planning to add the possibility to create multiple shelves ?
So I could create a "Movie" shelf and each tab would be a movie category, and that would solve my need for a "shelf within shelf" feature that will never be implemented :)
