So, been a couple of hours already... I take it crashes and general weirdness have so far been absent now that MP3 files are played by the Audio proxy? |

winstep wrote: Ok, open WorkShelf Preferences, go to the Advanced tab and make sure 'Notify me of beta (test) versions' is enabled, then click the Check for Updates button. The Winstep Update Manager should pick up the new beta. Talk about strange. AS I was reading this post, Winstep notified me that there were updates available. |

I think so too. Let this be an important lesson to everyone reading this. Buggy 3rd party software can - and sometimes will - interfere with other applications. Codecs, filters, drivers, AV software, shell context menu extensions, Control Panel applets - they all can cause problems. It's also VERY HARD to diagnose these type of problems, as can be easily concluded from this *11 page* thread. Thanks, Seeker, for your patience and willingness to try out different things. |

thank you, a lot of developers would have ignored a bug that affects so small percentage of users |

seeker wrote: thank you, a lot of developers would have ignored a bug that affects so small percentage of users Sometimes there is nothing I can do. I also wouldn't call this a 'bug' but an 'issue', since the problem was not in the Winstep software itself. All I did was work around someone else's bug, which unfortunately affected the Winstep application in such a way that made *it* look buggy. In the end it was worth it because it makes the Winstep application more robust and less vulnerable to bugs in 3rd party audio codecs and filters. Still leaves a bitter taste in the mouth though: as if fixing my own bugs wasn't already enough, now I have to work around other application's bugs too lol =) |

well, i rolled back to 16.12 to test ac3. don't think it was causing the issue, at least if it was, nether uninstall nor installing a new version didn't fix it |

Uninstall any codec packs you've got and install the latest K-Lite. |

How's it going? By the way, if I set ESC to snooze the Alarm (when it has a Snooze option) instead of killing it, would that work for you? Currently the space bar snoozes the alarm and ESC kills it. I can either make ESC act the same way as the space bar (does anyone else reading this have anything against this, by the way?) or offer either a global option (i.e.; in the Alarm Settings dialog) or a per-alarm option. |
