Post subject:  Clock Alarm Issue

On a few occasions one of the alarm's didn't work and I had to delete and redo it. I have two alarms and the backup which shows that it backed up a couple of days ago. The other alarm is set for two days a week.

One of the alarms I use is to put the trash out. Because the alarm didn't work last night (actually early am today, 1:30am) and wake me up, I wasn't able to put the trash out and missed the collection. And if you're wondering why so late, it's because it's still being used at least until midnight.

Did the time change cause this to happen? Here in the USA, the clocks went back an hour this past weekend about 4 days ago. The other alarm I have works.

Another thing, when I tried to edit or create a new alarm for the same time and day (which is today), it says Next Activation Never. It's a weekly alarm. However, if I change the setting to another day, it will show that it will activate.

The Hour change should have had no influence whatsoever in the alarm failing to fire: alarms missed because WorkShelf was not running, for instance, will always fire ASAP after-the-fact.

Perhaps you missed the notification or something else happened? You would have needed to check the 'Last Activation' and 'Next Activation' fields to try and figure out what happened. Now it's too late.

As for the other case: are you sure you're not confusing seeing 'Never' next to 'Last Activation', instead of 'Next Activation'?

If not, I need exact alarm settings (e.g.; screenshot of the Edit Alarm panel) of the non-functioning weekly alarm so I can reproduce here.

Anyone else reading this had alarms failing to fire before?

Here is a screenshot. Fortunately I didn't attempt to change the alarm again in case it allowed me to change it.

I have a feeling that since it is no longer Wed it will allow me to re-enable the alarm.

The other alarm is to make sure I don't miss my class to teach table tennis. I sometimes come home and take a nap beforehand.

Can you please Edit the 'Trash' alarm and post a screenshot of the settings here?

Yep, just as I thought. It allowed me to re-enable it. What happens is that once it passes the alarm time it will not allow you to reset it to the same time unless that day passes.

I'm not sure if it's because it didn't fire, or that it will do that even it works properly.

I just now made a new "test" weekly alarm for today (I did not delete the table tennis one) and it didn't work. I set it to fire a little more than a minute after I made it.

After that happened, I edited it to see if it would work but it didn't. It did the same thing as my first screenshot. It was Never Never.

Besides the problem of a alarm not working once in while, (it's happened about 10 times since the alarm feature was added) it appears there's an issue with trying to make or edit a weekly alarm for the same day once that time is passed and/or there is one already set for that day.

Windy, I *need* to see the Alarm *Settings* panel for the alarm that isn't working. Also, what version of Winstep Xtreme are you running?

What do you mean? How do I get to the settings for the alarm that isn't working?

What he said. Select the alarm that isn't working in the Alarm Manager window, click the Edit Alarm button and take a screenshot of the dialog that pops up.

Grrr.

It's working fine here, but I noticed you're running an old version. Go check your email, download and install the latest version and see if the behavior remains the same, then please let me know.

Yeah, well, you can thank AOL for that. Between AOL and Verizon, don't know whose worse.

Check again, please.

P.S: Are you getting emails from the forum with the reply notifications?

Okay, got it. Just installed the latest version. Now I can keep an eye out and see what happens.

Question: I'm running Windows 7. Will installing the dock tile pak do me any good? It sounds as if it's something geared toward Windows 10 or even 8.
