The Nexus Dock Weather Module Icon is the "NEXUS" icon on my dock. Shouldn't it be something weather like? The Nexus Start Menu Icon was also the "NEXUS" icon. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you deleted the folders with the weather and internal command icons.

Re-install the application *on top* of your existing installation please. Remember to exit all running Winstep applications before running setup.

Another possibility is that you moved the location of the Public Documents folder (to another drive, for instance) - Windows has a bug which prevents it from successfully returning the new location of the Public Documents folder to other applications.

Sorry, not sure I understand.

The application will warn you if you attempt to run it with elevated privileges, which is a BIG-HUGE-CATASTROPHIC-SHOOTING-YOURSELF-IN-THE-HEAD-NOT-EVEN-IN-THE-FOOT mistake in terms of security and getting your system p0wned in the blink of an eye (and will also prevent you from drag & dropping icons from Explorer into it because of UIPI, the User Interface Privilege Isolation mechanism in Windows).

However, the question asked in that prompt is 'Would you like to exit now?', so clicking Yes would close the application - not sure how you go from there to having problems with the icons?

If you respond No and you let the Winstep application run elevated then you are one step away from having your whole system p0wned by a virus or a trojan, since anything an elevated launcher runs will itself run elevated as well (including browsers).

Well, my weather icon is the NEXUS icon. And there does not seem to be any place to change the weather icon through Dock Entry Properties. Change Icon is grayed out.

Dock Entry Properties for RAM module and CPU module Change Icon are not grayed out.

That's because the weather module uses different icons according to the current weather conditions, so you can not set a static icon like you can for the background of the RAM and CPU modules.

The Weather module will automatically retrieve the correct icon from

C:\Users\Public\Documents\WinStep\Weather\Icons1

or

C:\Users\Public\Documents\WinStep\Weather\Icons2

accordingly to the current selected weather module style.

Look inside those folders. What do you see there?

Yes, but do you see the weather image icons inside the Icons1 and Icons2 folder?

Also, you didn't explain what I wrote above:

You have to start being a bit more detailed, experiment with things, and volunteer more accurate information, or we will be going back and forth for a long time. Remember I am not there looking over your shoulder. :)

Last time I did an exit from NEXUS. And then I re-installed on top of NEXUS. When I opened the file, this time there was no question asked regarding UAC. The weather icon was the NEXUS icon.

I tried to attach a file zipped with the Weather Folder. It would not attach.

My next move will be to uninstall NEXUS, and reinstall. I'll let you know the results.

Uninstalled NEXUS and deleted the folders in Program files and public documents.

Rebooted.

RE-downloaded free version of NEXUS.

Ran the exe.

There was no UAC prompt.

I am able to drag desktop icons to the NEXUS dock.

Weather icon is NEXUS icon.

c:\Users\Public\Documents\Winstep\Weather\Icons1 has all the weather pngs.

c:\Users\Public\Documents\Winstep\Weather\Icons2 has all the weather pngs.

Ok, that's not right. Are you telling me that a) running *NexusSetup.exe* did not show a UAC prompt? Or b) there was a UAC prompt when running setup but not when running the application?

Please confirm.

There was no UAC prompt at any time.

Also my UAC settings are "never notify". Setting is all the way at the bottom.

"Never notify me when:
- Apps try to install software or try to make changes to my computer
- I make changes to Window settings"

Well, you've got something not configured correctly in your system then.

Setup needs to run with admin privileges. Normally Windows will *automatically* detect setup applications and run them elevated (i.e.; it will show you a UAC prompt before running a setup application) unless you - or something else - changed your UAC settings.

Please uninstall again, delete everything, and this time to run setup instead of double clicking on the setup executable, right-click and select 'Run as Administrator' from the context menu.

It sounds like there's something royally screwed either with your system, or perhaps with something relating to Winstep.

If it's just the free Nexus you're running and you're reasonably comfortable with the Windows registry, you could try this. Uninstall Nexus, then (belts and braces) restart your system. Then run regedit (use the 'run' command and type regedit, hit enter) and go to HKEY_Current_User-Software-Winstep, and delete the whole Winstep2000 entry. Then try re-installing Nexus, as in Jorge's last post.

Hope it gets sorted.
