Ok, I need you to please confirm that NextSTART has ALSO been upgraded to v18.3 (in case the file could not be overwritten). You mention that WorkShelf has, but you say nothing about NextSTART.

You should be able to access the About tab of NextSTART Preferences to confirm. Either way, please go to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Winstep\

right click on the nextstart.exe file, select Properties, then click on the Details tab and paste the file version here.

This is just getting weirder and weirder - as you can probably guess from the LACK of comments on this thread - and the non existence of other threads - regarding this subject, this is definitely NOT a common issue.

File version is 18.5.0.878. And I did mention Nexstart - it will not let me choose any of the tabs, period. Registration is it and if I want to use my taskbar I have to shut down Nextstart. That is my primary problem.

What version did you just install? v18.3.
What is the version of NextSTART running on your system? v18.5.

Your license key was good for all updates released until April 23 2018. This means it will still work with v18.3 (released in March 31 2018) but NOT with v18.5 (released in June 1 2018).

How you got into a situation where the version of WorkShelf running in your system was v18.1 but the version of NextSTART was v18.5 is anybody's guess - you will probably know it better than I do because you didn't mention downloading the v18.5 update. The practical result of that is that WorkShelf worked but NextSTART didn't.

Now, when you perform an upgrade, the install will NOT overwrite newer version files. This explains why installing v18.3 still left NextSTART v18.5 running in your system instead of replacing it with the older v18.3.

So, here is what you need to do:

1. Exit all running Winstep applications.

2. Go to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Winstep\

and delete the NextSTART.exe executable.

3. Re-install v18.3 *ON TOP* again (i.e.; do NOT uninstall anything first).

4. NextSTART should run properly now. Double check the version number to make sure it is now v18.3.
