Post subject:  Skinning Questions

Well Jorge, as I'll be off for about 1-3 weeks on medical leave in about a fortnight, thought I'd try and help make it a little easier for you and made a couple of short/-ish lists. This first one is of my as yet unanswered skinning queries, mostly going back months so you wouldn't need to dig around for them. No pressure - just deal with one at a time when you can please. :) MTIA

(The second list concerns a couple of functional issues with NextSTART and a couple of feature queries. So, it's really not all that many altogether is it, esp. considering how far back some go. :) )

LIST OF SKINNING QUERIES

(In order of priority, not necessarily chronological order.)

1) Workshelf doesn't see the inverted bitmaps (*F.*) for the top edge shelf. This is especially noticeable with my prefs icons as these are distinctive in their orientation. Presumably I'm missing an entry/entries in the *.wsw config. file, but what? (I haven't come across any themes yet that use inverted bitmaps and found nothing in other people's config files to solve this issue.)

2) The NET module. How can I get the double Net In and Net Out module (given that I have the separate but identical bitmaps), as per the default iconified module, to wwork? What entries are required in the *.wsn config file? And do I enter the XY coordinates for the second bitmap as if it were part of the first, or do I give identical XY coordinates? (Sadly, nobody else seems to use this method so no hints to be gleaned.)

Also, same questions arise in re: the single-bitmap dual Net In and Net Out module - although I have looked at others' config files for this, I have to admit it's left me baffled.) I intend to use this in a couple of upcoming themes.

Further, is there a provision for text for network utilisation in % of available bandwidth? (Window up to 7 has this, as a histo, in its Taskmanager. Would make a useful new mod. also.)

3) The NextSTART Taskbar. I suspect I may not have the full entries for these in the *.wst config file : The Hotspot background image doesn't show up. Neither does the systray control button background/icon, nor the systray background. I've tried looking for clues in all sorts of themes' .wst files but without success, alas! (The parts of the file concerned with the taskbar are a bit of a nightmare really, and usually everyone seems to have them in different places and different order within the file. Utterly bewildered! ;) )

4) Still with the taskbar, in at least some of my currently worked on themes, the task button mouse-over and active bitmaps (the inactive task button bitmap is fully transparent in one, and almost fully in another, so same applies here with non-transparent bitmaps) are quite distinctive in that they follow the linear pattern of the taskbar background bitmap, and they look extremely ugly/out of place when the taskbar is vertical. Is there perhaps a setting already for vertical images for the m-o and active - and inactive - tasks buttons that I missed? (I do have TasksVM and TasksVA bitmaps.) Or don't we have that atm? If not, that would be a great addition for the vertical taskbar. The same would be great for Hotspot and Sysback bitmaps.)

Another 'also' ;) - Didn't we have mouse-overs on titlebar gadgets in the past? Certainly not working now. Or, if we never had them, could we have them in the future, please? Asking as found a few old themes, both own and 3rd party, that certainly had the mouse-over bitmaps, e.g., CloseAM.*, etc. And it would bring things in line with gadgets elsewhere, i.e., taskbar, shelf.

5) And then there is NeXus. There are still a couple of issues I have with the Advanced Tiles mode, in particular also in re: Endcaps. But will post again separately on that one once the other issues are addressed. (These must be about the earliest.) The other big issue is the top edge dock.

Top edge docks with more than six icons (or thereabouts, with icon size set at 48px) are using the bottom edge bitmap (or invert the top one?) - this applies to both advanced tiled and background docks. (This even happens with 'Atmospherica' theme, which seems the only one other than my own ones to have distinct bitmaps for all four orientations.) With some themes, inc. 'Atmospherica', it also applies to docks with only six icons. And with some themes, even with only five icons.

It's been dead quiet in here for days! And *still* not so much as a comment even Jorge? After all the "remind mes...." and "I'll deal with xyz laters...." I think I've been most patient, I'm sure you'd admit.

Or will I live long enough for the ThemeBuilder to solve my problems? ;) In that case, I'll wait for that. :) So, bring it on Jorge - got plenty to test betas (or alphas even) with lots of themes.

Yes, you've been very patient, but I am going to have to ask you to continue being being patient for just a little while longer. Dealing with some real life stuff here. :)

That's alright Jorge, and thanks for letting me know. :)
