right after i made my last post opened prefferences, open the shelf's prefferences, created a regular tab, applied, open by shortcuts fold, selecect all, dropped in the new regular tab, ended up with the shortcuts in a oddball order, tried to reorder them without any luck.

o.k. figured out i need to unlock the icons to allow dragging to the order i want, but with that said unlike a folder tab i don't get auto arrangement of the icons and the reordering of them is a nightmare. just when you think you have a handle on reordering it starts behaving differently.

Yeah, the 'lock icons' setting does exactly what it says. :)

When you drop a bunch of icons at the same time into a regular tab in the Shelf, they are not arranged in any particular order. There is no 'auto arrange' in Regular tabs.

Also, read this quick tutorial I just wrote for another user at WC.

Well I don't plan to fresh install as I just installed windows (new computer) however I had discovered the regular type and I am currently using it. The idea was to use the Application Folder you can create for all your Windows 10 programs (similar to a mac) and import them via folder. As Winstep Admin stated this is the wrong way as you can't reorganize them the way you want.

While the application Folder is nice I did discover some issues with it, as it shows everything including links etc. So I believe using the regular shelf tab and bringing them in individual is the best option. While using the Applications Folder to sort out every application.

what we need and have needed for a very long time is per tab, just like you have per folder:

rightclick tab:

view: extra large icons, large icons, medium icons, small icons, list, titles

sort: name, date, time, size, ascending, descending(might want to consider: from right to left as an option instead of just from top to bottom as it is now).

grouping: nothing

i'll take a look at that tut since i'm pretty sure it on my end that's giving me the nightmare. i drag the icons to the regular tab, start ordering them, get the first row and part of the second row ordered then all hell breaks loose. i'm sure i'm changing up how i'm trying to rearrange them and not seeing what i'm doing different from when i started.

on another note i see we still have the issue of when you rightclick something on a shelf and go to move it it moves to the first folder you select instead of letting you drill down to the folder you actually want and then ok'ing the selected folder.

Post subject:  Re: Shelf with Applications Folder?

decided after 1/2 a day of playing with a regular tab that a folder tab is the best choice for me for my shortcuts. in my case i have the actual folder saved in my docs on another drive, so when i reinstall 10 and install xtreme and restore xtreme i already have my ready shortcuts to be used. yes i get a regular tab would do the same, but with a folder tab if i install a new program i can move a shortcut to it, and it will populate into the actual folder whereas with a regular tab that's not the case. for the 3 items from the store i actually use they are on a subdock.
