Jorge,
When I add an item in a shelf, the item is automatically added in the first available unoccupied spot in the shelf. How can I add an item in a shelf or grid stack in whatever I spot I want to add?

What is the *type* of the Shelf tab or Grid Stack you are adding the item to (Regular, Folder, something else)?

*How* are you adding it (Context menu, drag & drop) ?

Regular. Both (right click menu and drag and drop).

Ok, either I am not understanding what is going on in there, or something is very wrong.

When you are adding an item via drag & drop, the icons shift to make room for that item at whatever position you are hovering at. Isn't that happening there?

I just tried inserting an item in a Regular Shelf tab with both the context menu and drag & drop and here everything worked as expected.

let me clarify. I created a new shelf tab so the shelf tab will be empty with unoccupied boxes and let's say there are 8 unoccupied, empty boxes in the shelf tab. If I drag and drop a file say, to the 5th unoccupied box, instead of adding the file shortcut in the 5th box, the shortcut is added in 1st box. Does that make sense? I want to be able to add an item or shortcut in any box I want in the shelf tab.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, ok, gotcha!

No, you cannot leave gaps in-between icons.

What you can do however, is insert blank separators after-the-fact.
