I have my standalone Winstep Clock module locked in place in a certain position on my desktop. I play a lot of games, some of which are retro Windows games using a different resolution from my desktop. In most cases, when I quit the game and return to the desktop, the Winstep clock remains in the correct position; but for a few of them, when I quit the game and return to the desktop, the Winstep clock module is still locked but is in a different position on the desktop. I then have to manually unlock the clock, move it again to the correct desktop position, and lock its position again.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I can send screenshots if desired....

I apologize if this has already been covered in the forums--I tried to search for an answer and did not find one....

Thanks for all your help!

When that happens, try right clicking on the desktop clock module, opening the 'Desktop Modules' sub-menu from the context menu that opens, and then select the 'Restore Module Positions' entry, see if that helps.

Let me know, please. :)

Dear Jorge,

Apologies for the delayed response--for some reason I did not get notified that anyone had responded to my inquiry. I will try this tonight and get back to you right away tomorrow.

Thanks again for all your help!

Dear Jorge,

I tried try right clicking on the desktop clock module, opening the 'Desktop Modules' sub-menu from the context menu, and selecting the 'Restore Module Positions' entry, and that sequence of steps did not help....

BUT I did find that if I went to Workshelf Preferences, Advanced, and then hit Restore (I had previously saved the arrangement) the clock (and the docks) returned to the right places.

If you are interested, I tried unsuccessfully to attach a sample old Windows game that causes the problem....

Thanks again!

Can you just paste their names here?

The method you are using works but is a bit of a pain. :)

Normally the Winstep application detects when a full screen game is running (even if it changes screen resolution) and does not change the position of the desktop modules.

However, knowing when a screen resolution change is temporary is not as straightforward as it might seem, and the Winstep application must also make sure that the desktop modules (and other objects) don't remain off-screen when the user deliberately lowers the desktop screen resolution.

Usually it works fine (as not all games you run cause this) but sometimes the game instead of running directly runs a launcher first, etc, and this can prevent the Winstep application from determining that the screen resolution change is only temporary.

Luckily most modern games run at the native Windows screen resolution these days.

The game I was going to upload to you (and still can if you need it) is called "Inspector Parker". It is a small game and a good test case, for it ruins Winstep placement every time.

Here is a link to its video (just to ensure that you test the right game):

I've had the same problem with an old PC game for a long time. I just checked and it still happens. I don't play it nearly as much as I used to, partly because it's a headache to keep having to readjust the modules.

The name of the game is Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood (PC). https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0478248/

Here's a link to purchase it. It's the downloadable version unlike the one I have which is a CD ROM. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4656 ... _Sherwood/ It's the cheapest one I found. All of the others (CD ROM) are $55.00 and up. When I bought it many years ago, (a few years after it came out) it was $10.00!

P.S. The version I have is the UK version. It's better as far as using a CD ROM because I don't have to have the CD in the PC to play it which is highly convenient. I copied the files to the PC and play it. You can't do that with the U.S.A. version.

The is the UK version. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listi ... dition=new

This the U.S.A. version. https://www.amazon.com/Robin-Hood-Legen ... r=8-1&th=1
