Hello,

I'm new on this forum ...

After using ObjectDock while many years, I decided to try Winstep Xtreme version 30 days 19.2 (build 19.02.1390) since few days.

Here my problem, many times by day my ALT key (left side) is constamment pressed (18 and 164). Impossible to use my mice or keyboard until that I press on my left key ALT.

I noticed that if i put my cursor mice over a Dock, a 18 and 164 are not called. If a remove my mouse from over this dock, a 18 and 164 will be again constamment pressed until that I press on my left key ALT or if I click on separator that exist on my Dock.

My setting is :
Windows10 = Version 1903 and build: 18362.295
Windows Pro version french,
Keyboard : Canada french
Language : Canada French

What is a solution for this ?

Hmmm, very strange, that issue was fixed in v18.1 (i.e.; January 2018)

First, please read THIS POST for an explanation, starting in the middle where it is related to the ALT key getting stuck and the code solution to the problem.

Any idea why the fix might not be working in your system? Are you using any other desktop customization software that might interfere with the Winstep application?

At the limit I can add an option in the next release NOT to use the ALT key focus method, but this at the cost of the dock sometimes failing to come to the foreground (blame MS for that one).

I read this, and I understood ! After to read this, I did many tests...

1 - Disable all software on Windows automatic startup
2 - Reboot
3 - Click on your shortcut "Winstep Xtreme" to run
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Winstep\WorkShelf.exe"
4 - Start two diffrents any software (no full screen)
5 - I Move this first software over Dock to position 0 to top, and your dock move a top of my software lower than Dock and curiously a Height of my software is reduce of same pixel number !!!
6 - I Move this second software over Dock to position 0 to top, and your dock move a top of my software on his origin position, and ALT key is now continually pressed until I press a key Left ALT key !!!
7 - Now, Winstep refuse to run because I tried to modify setting too often today or reboot too often today, and Winstep display me a RED warning inform me that I just wait while many hours ! So impossible to use normally my PC today !

So I will try other setting later when Winstep accept to run !

How hours I have to wait ?

Thanks

Wait... as I said that should not happen, but you mentioned **LEFT*** Alt key. What was getting stuck was the ***RIGHT*** Alt key, i.e.; ALT GR

Are you sure you mean LEFT Alt key? What happens if you press ALT GR on your keyboard instead, does the ALT key get unstuck as well? Have you already tried a different keyboard, assuming you have one available?

Yes, I mean really a left side ...
When I press my AltLeft, a code 18 and 164 are called same time
When I press my AltRight (Lebeled ALT-GR), a code 17,18, 162 and 165 are called same time

To resolve, i'm obligate to press a ALT-left(Alt-GR don't resolve problem).

This morning, a create a Sofware with VB6 to know keyboard stroke

Here a PrintScreen:

Thanks

What are you using to see the keyboard codes?

Also, have you already tried a different keyboard?

I just tried this :

1 - I turn OFF my Wireless Canada-French-Keyboard , remove a USB adapter
2 - Connected my Old Corded US-Keyboard (with Canada-French defined in Win10)
3 - Reboot
4 - Did a same test,
5 - Same problem
6 - same code received from Left and Right ShiftKey as:

AltLeft = 18 and 164
AltRight = 17,18, 162 and 165

Exactly as my French Keyboard

Curious !

Ok, thanks, just wondering if it was a keyboard or keyboard driver problem.

Can you please describe in excruciating detail ( :) ), step by step, how you can reproduce the problem there 100% of the time? Every little detail counts (e.g.; does it happen with every window or just some, etc...)

I just sent you a private video to MP, step by step, how appear this BUG, but cannot explain why and when or how reproduce this! It randomly ...
You are only to say when you activate this ALT key and obligate Win10 to interven !

I have this BUG after a New Win10 installation !

Note a second BUG for height of form that I needing to resize of 645 pixels.

Note a third bug, a top form is stopped to half of a dock for my left monitor zoomed to 200%!

Thanks

Ooooooooooh, it *keeps* sending the ALT key code! I don't think this is the 'Alt Key becoming stuck' issue described in my other post then, but something else entirely (although probably related with getting the focus). Also, judging by the number of failed attempts at recreating this issue, it seems very difficult to reproduce.

As for the re-sizing of the windows/forms, that has nothing to do with the Winstep application (at least not directly) but with Windows itself. Notice how something 'teleports' the titlebar of the form down when you bump the top screen edge - this is what is causing the form to resize. However, this is not caused by the Winstep application itself - possibly something Windows does to the form when focus is taken away from it while it is being dragged and the window is partially off screen.

1 - About my ALT key, what you suggest me ?

2 - About a form repositioned to half of dock's height, this left screen is zoomed to 200%, does exist in setting to force Winstep to reserve 200% too ?

3 - About a resizing problem, I closed Winstep, and this resizing exist again, so right, I confirm that it is a Bug of Win10 !

Thanks
