Hello. Check Voice Button? No, it does not work.

Not what I asked for, sorry. I wrote:

"Go to the Sounds tab in Preferences. select the Clock Chime event, and then press Test Sound"

I installed the latest version 19.2 on a working computer, there is also Windows 10, another edition, it does not work there either.

What language are those Windows 10 installations running under?

Where did you download v19.2 from?

If there truly was a generalized problem with Windows 10 and voices in Winstep applications the forums (and Winstep support) would be filled with complaints by now. And they aren't.

Why are the Female Voice.wsv and Male Voice.wsv files in the voice folders? In them in the parameter "ClockVoiceFolder" some strange ways are registered. Moreover, for male and female voices are different, and do not at all coincide with the actual location of the files. If you change these paths to the correct ones, this also does not help.

The ClockVoiceFolder setting in the INI files is not relevant to the issue at hand.

In the Sounds tab of Preferences, what options do you have for 'Voice Theme' ?

An uninstall and re-install did not work either. "Apps" now have no icons. Still no "Main". Still no talking clock. Thanks.

I thought you said you were running Winstep Xtreme? That's the free version of Nexus.

Anyway, to start with, in the Clock Settings dialog you need to change the type of announcement from 'Clock Chime' to 'Talking Clock'.

Second, what happens when you click the 'Test Voice' button in the Sounds tab of Preferences? If nothing happens, what do you see when you click the 'Open Folder' button right next to it?

Did you tell it to remove your settings when you uninstalled it?

If the Apps tab is empty, check the tab type in the Tab Properties dialog - it needs to be of type 'Apps' and is probably currently set as 'Regular'.

Also, what is your Silent Period set to in the Sounds tab of Preferences?

If you open Preferences and go to the Modules tab then select the Clock module, is 'Disable sounds for this module' checked?

The Apps tab is not empty. It just has blank icons.
I did not tell it to remove settings. Should I?
3AM to 4AM.
It is not set to disable sounds. Like I said before "minute" works "hourly" does not.
Thanks.

Well, I don't know then. What if you set it to 'Every 30 minutes' ?

As for the blank icons, if a reboot does not cure it, you might have to reset your Windows icon cache. UWP apps do not really use icons but rather multiple size PNG images, so Windows 10 sometimes has difficulty dealing with them. Gotta love Microsoft and their idea of firing all the QA testers lol

I don't understand this but here goes: Every minute works. Every 15 minutes works. Every 30 minutes works. Every hour does not work. So I will set it for every 30 minutes. I can live with that. Thanks.

Should I uninstall and tell it to remove settings? It's the only other thing I can think of barring getting a Mac.

I tried the Extreme version, so I have the regular version of Nexus installed. I tried to set Clock Chime and it works! But the talking clock is not. When you click on Test Voice, there is no sound, neither on the male nor the female, but the download icon appears in the corsor for a moment. A folder with sound files opens.

And what happens if, in that folder with sound files, you double click TheTimeIs.mp3 ? Should open in Media Player and you should hear a voice saying 'The time is', but do you?

Ah yes, the "joys" of Win 10! (Or worse, of Rotten Fruit/The Dark Side!) I'd almost forgotten all about those, running Linux as my main OSes for over a year now has been really good for one's nerves. :) I do miss Winstep somewhat though when I don't have Win 10 up, but hey, I still have to come back to Win for a few things... But most, Linux does as well or better and all for free, too - although that may well be changing more and more.

Yes, the sound is playing. I checked - the same version on Windows 7 is working properly. The case in the system is similar, either in incompatibility with some programs. At first, everything worked perfectly.
