This has been happening for a few months now.

If Nexus Ultimate is running the windows alt-tab function doesn't work. Sometimes it will tab through some of the running apps, sometimes, none of them.

Exit NU and alt-tab works agi. restart NU and it doesn't work.

A rebboot will fix the problem for a short while.

What version of Nexus Ultimate are you running?

Does nothing happen when you press ALT+TAB? What happens if you do it again?

Version 19.02.1143

Alt-tab does nothing or cycles through only some of the running programs. That only happens when Nexus Ultimate is running. Until I reboot the behavior is the same whenever I try alt-tab again.

Two very different behaviors. What do you mean by 'cycles through only some of the running programs' ?

When I press alt-tab it's supposed to display images of all the running programs. Each press of alt-tab highlights the next program in the display. When I release alt-tab it then makes that app, the foreground app. That's how it's supposed to work but with Nexus running the app display either does not show all the running programs so worse, shows none of them.

I should mention, Nexus also blocks the task view switching (Win-TAB). Again, unload Nexus and the functionality reappears.

Sorry, looks like I failed to reply at the time and then forgot about your post.

That is NOT normal Nexus behavior. Nexus simply does not interfere with ALT-TAB or WIN+TAB behavior, or at least it doesn't on a normal system.

Problem is, I never heard of something like that happening, and I doubt anyone has either - or someone would have probably chimed in by now. Not saying it doesn't happen on your system, since it obviously does, but even though the issue goes away if you unload Nexus I would look for the actual culprit elsewhere (e.g.; a 3rd party application ?)

Plus, when you say 'been happening for a few months now' that implies it did not happen before - and since you are still running the same version of Nexus, it was not Nexus that changed but something on your system.

What happens if you first backup your Nexus settings (Advanced tab of Preferences) then go to the Troubleshooting Options dialog in the same tab and reset all settings to factory default? Do you still see the same issue with ALT+TAB? You can restore your settings after trying that out.

I don't know exactly how long ago I noticed it happening and whether or not a newer release of NU was installed. I'm usually only switching between two recent tasks so it may not have seen it in the past.

The main 3rd party software I run is the Stardock suite of applications and Norton. Next time I experience it I'll try shutting down the Stardock apps and then Norton.

Are you running WindowBlinds? I remember reading something about it and ALT+TAB some time ago, I think.

I booted with all Stardock apps disabled and Norton protect turned off. The alt-tab problem reappeared. I shut down Nexus Ultimate and alt-tab worked again. I don't know what else to try.

I missed where you asked me to reset Nexus settings and see what happens. That restores the alt-tab functionality. Restoring my backed up settings and alt-tab fails again.

See attached settings file. Great, it says the extension wbk is not allowed! I tried renaming to txt and the same message.
