So, I have noticed that sometimes Windows stops refreshing the file list in Explorer. As in, I can add or remove files from a folder and they don't show up unless I refresh. What you are experiencing sounds like this, and has nothing to do with Winstep. When you refresh the files are gone. The issue is that Windows isn't refreshing the view when it should be. While you are running Winstep Xtreme, it is refreshing the view and showing you the ACTUAL files on the desktop, when you exit, Windows is showing you the non-refreshed view of the desktop from before you deleted the files.

Ok to clarify a bit - with step - by - step instructions:


1. Have Winstep nexus Ultimate hide desktop files in preferences.

2. Uncheck this box in preferences and click apply

3. Create a new text document - name it text.txt

4. Delete it by pressing the "delete" key on the keyboard

5. Rightclick on the Nexus dock and Exit Nexus

6. You will see a file "new text document.txt" on the desktop. You can even go into it's properties but attempting to delete it will cause Windows to tell you the file is not there.

Hitting F5 will cause the file to vanish
