Post subject:  Shortcut Problem

Hello everyone. Need a bit of help here, as I'm still new to the Winstep Nexus dock.

I'm having a problem with a shortcut that may have an easy fix but I can't get it to work.

I generated a desktop shortcut of one of my programs and then pinned it to my nexus dock. I then deleted the initial desktop shortcut I created and just kept the program icon pinned on the taskbar. When I go click on the icon on the taskbar it generates an error message stating something to the effect of "Windows can't find.... make sure you typed name correctly and try again". If I then take the deleted shortcut out of the recycle bin and place it back on the desktop, the taskbar icon will work again.

Any idea how I can solve the problem? My goal is to delete the desktop shortcut and just keep the taskbar icon working.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

You answered your own question. Nexus can't find it because you deleted it. Instead of pinning the shortcut you need to pin the actual program.

Thanks for trying to assist. Would you mind elaborating as to how to do that?

I deleted the desktop shortcut because I had already pinned the icon to the taskbar. I think I understand what you're saying but if I click/drag the icon to the taskbar, the desktop shortcut remains on the desktop. How do I go about actually pinning the program and not the shortcut, if this is what you're saying?

right click and select properties note the path to the item and options.
navigate to file browser locate program and drag item to bar.
then you can edit and add options.

By the way, when I go to the windows start menu, locate the program, right click and choose "pin to taskbar", the program does not pin to the taskbar that way either.
