Post subject:  I caught a bug!!

Based on my recent posts, this is probably a feature :D but....

I have a network drive which is mapped.... we'll call it Y:\ and it resides on a windows 2000 server. I have a menu item in NS pointing to Y:\, this menu item is a "show folder" menu item. When viewing Y:\ through NS (not opening via triple click) I am missing some files. I have a mixture of .doc, .pdf, and .tif files. Only the .pdf nd the .tif show up (no .doc). Opening the folder via triple click reveals all files safe and sound.

any thoughts?

This won't help much but I have a bunch of networked drives accessed through NS on Win2k with 2k servers and have never seen this behaviour. You can force it by specifying what types of file to list using the 'properties setting' but the default sesm to be everything.

prefs all seem to be inorder. The full file listing shows up when the folder is accessed via workshelf.

After manualy renaming the files, replacing spaces with "_", or changing capitalization, they are all there. They were not hidden files, so something with the way they were saved prevented NS from seeing them.

Bug not squashed, but circumvented :-)

If I understood right, this happens because Active Desktop is still enabled and conflicts with NextSTART (NextSTART tries to hide the Windows taskbar so only the NextSTART Startbar is visible and Active Desktop tries to show the Windows taskbar again).

To solve it, go to the Global Preferences tab in NextSTART Preferences and click on the 'Disable Active Desktop' button.
