Hello, I use the Nexus Dock freeware version which is a fantastic program! Unfortunately, the menus (Folder Menus, Context Menus, ...) are TRANSPARENT which makes them difficult to read. How can I switch OFF the menu transparency? |

Who actually invented transparent menus? They are as unnecessary as a goiter, so to speak! |

Menu transparency is set by the theme - the actual GFX files are transparent or translucent, and this cannot be changed by the user. Use a theme that does not use transparency. Even the Windows start menu uses some translucency, incidentally. |

I need a theme where the menus are not transparent and where the theme does not have any fancy visual play accessories like dragons or cats or any other not-functional attachments. I need to WORK with the dock and not play with it. Could you indicate to me such a theme? I have gone through the list of themes in Nexus, but all of them seem to be made for game-players. |

I have now downloaded and imported the "Office" theme from https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/winstep/843/ But it also has the SAME transparent menus! |

This also has the same transparent menus: It seems that the menu transparency is common to all skins. All skins I have tried have the same transparent menus! |

And NONE of my other applications has transparent menus. Nexus Dock is the only one that has transparent menus. |

Hi Peter, What menu is that? If you're not sure what to call it, describe the steps you use to make that menu appear. |

DesertDwarf wrote: Hi Peter, What menu is that? If you're not sure what to call it, describe the steps you use to make that menu appear. It is a FOLDER MENU: Drag a folder containing links to programs or documents from Windows File Explorer to the Nexus Dock to create a FOLDER ICON: Then click on the FOLDER ICON to open the FOLDER MENU: This screenshot of a FOLDER MENU shows also another annoyance: The FOLDER MENU also shows the invisible system files like desktop.ini, setup.ini, and tlbdata.xml. The FOLDER MENU should of course HIDE those invisible files. (BTW, tlbdata.xml is a configuration file of another dock product I have tried before. These invisible files are normally HIDDEN in Windows File Explorer. To create the screenshot, they have been made visible only inside a special program) |

I don't know of a way to fix either problem. It appears to get menu transparency from the theme images (PNGs) themselves, but I'm not sure which one defines the backgrounds of the menus. I don't think Jorge provides any means of filtering files, but that's a pretty good idea. I apologize for not being much help. Hopefully, Jorge will be back from his hiatus soon and can respond. |
