Post subject:  Stop shortcut from needing to be replaced on app update

Hi! I have a couple apps pinned to my dock, notably Figma and Slack. Whenever they update, I'm not sure what happens but I end up with two icons in my dock for each of these programs. I constantly need to delete the old shortcut and move the new shortcut to the pinned apps section of the dock (the new one shows up in the running apps section).

Is there any way to... not have to do this every time the app updates?

Thanks!

The problem would seem to lie with your third party apps. It might be that they use a programme launcher, perhaps.

Any idea how I might be able to get it to stick? Any workarounds?

If the third party apps use a launcher app, you could link to that instead of the app's executable - usually works, but not always.

i have the same issue with some programs, but in windows themselves, i think its completely up to the software itself and the update process
