Hmmm, normal, mine is 203 KB.

Can you give me more details? When did it start to happen, etc? Anything you might think is related?

Wow... random crashes are nearly impossible to debug (and that is assuming it isn't actually an hardware problem).

What happens when it crashes and you immediately make another backup? Does it keep crashing or does it sometimes crash other times not?

Manual and Automatic backups use exactly the same routines, there is no reason to crash on one but not the other.

Seriously, this is looking more and more like an hardware error than something else - have you already tried running some system stability tests?

When it crashes but creates a file, please send that file to the Winstep support email address and let me know here. It might help understand at which point it crashes.

Prime95 will usually catch any system instability pretty quickly, but you should turn off the AVX instructions as those are not examples of real world usage and can make your CPU overheat.

Check THIS article to start with. :D

This said, instability like that would (should) show up in other usage instancies, e.g.; if you also use your system for heavy tasks such as gaming, video editing, etc...

only issue i have been having is with kvirc randomly crashing without error after a forced win udate (i believe the issue is infact with one of ms c++ redistributables, but as i have 12 installed currently, bc each game requires different one, and kwirc doesnt say which one it uses i havent gone deeper into TS), but winstep backup error predates that by couple of months

Check the Windows Event Viewer for red exclamation mark errors (Event Viewer -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events)
