What is the best way to upload a WorkShelf dmp file to this forum? No luck trying to do it the normal way.

You mean a Windows dump file for a WorkShelf crash? Don't do that, not going to help anyway.

What the entry in the Windows Event Viewer says, might, however. Also what you were doing when it crashed.

If I post what the Event Viewer says, will it help you to figure out what is causing WorkShelf to crash?

So far, using the sub dock is the only thing that causes the COM Surrogate crash. Obviously, there's something that the sub dock (via my Control Icon on the dock) is triggering on my system.

I'm hoping to resolve this before the next release in case it's something that you can change to prevent it from happening.

Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard.
You will see a Run box in the lower-left corner of your screen.
Type sysdm.cpl in the text field.
Click OK.

Why do you need someone to open the System Properties window?

And it was indeed a bot, according to StopForumSpam - tons of entries there for his email address. :D

I banned and deleted his account but left his post visible so as not to confuse people eheh

Spammers are getting smarter... they now reply to random posts with some innocuous but related stuff (according to their AI, this one was a bit off, of course) so when you go check their posting history later on (possibly due to a more risky post) to try to determine if they are a bot or a real user, they seem like a real user.

That or they edit their original post some time after the fact with spammy stuff.

Didn't so much smell as absolutely reek of bot! 8) If I'd spotted it first the post would have been gone and a user note added as being a bot. All I could do as a mod. :(

Seen a lot of that since becoming a mod, but I think most times I do catch them out. Another smart-arse trick they use is inserting their spam into quoted previous posts, with their own text then perfectly innocuous.

Thank you for the kind remark.

Spammers are getting more astute... they currently answer to irregular posts with some harmless yet related stuff (as per their AI, this one was a gnawed off, obviously) so when you go check their posting history later on (conceivably because of a more hazardous post) to attempt to decide whether they are a bot or a genuine client, they appear to be a genuine client.
Thanks.
