Hey, so.

I have recently downloaded Nexus from //www.winstep.net/nexus.asp and the setup download was perfectly fine, however (Check attachment)

If there is a fix to this, please reply as I will be checking 20.04.2022 - 23.04.2022

[In-case Image doesn't work];

Setup was unable to create the directory
"C:\Users\Public\Documents\Winstep".

Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified
-----------------------------------------------------------

Please note that: I have tried to change folder name, location and even tried USB. I'm out of ideas. (After is says setup failed)

Did you move the Windows Documents folder to another drive?

Either that or your security software is being overzealous (or just plain stupid, more to the point) in its anti-ransomware attempts and is not letting the setup application store data in the Documents folder (which is pretty stupid since that is what the Documents folder is for).

Hey! Thanks for the reply

I use the basic windows security, and my documents file is still in my C drive. (Main)

As I said in my message beforehand, I have tried to setup in different folders, drives and even USB's to no prevail. If you have any more tips I could try then please contact me again, however -

I fixed it, I was checking on my ransomware protection and it seems that "Controlled Folder Access" was in-fact blocking the installation, this has been disabled.

Thank you for your help.

See? This is why I call those type of anti-ransomware "features" stupid, much like using a sledgehammer to drive a nail. They should WARN and ASK the user about what is happening and which action to take (much like a UAC prompt) not just blindly and silently block a legit operation on a legit folder.

As it is, most of the time the user will have no idea what is happening, why it's happening, and how to fix it.
