For those who experience this problem:

Windows needs user login profile to be configured with which applications "startup" on login.

There a many ways to go about setting autostart

The first is within the "NextStart" and "WorkShelf" applications
- right-mouse-button-click on their icons in the taskbar notification area. The icons may be hidden (by default) so you will probably have to click on the ^ icon (if the bar is horizontal) or the > icon (if the bar is vertical) to show the hidden notification icons.
- Once the preference window is open, select the general tab and there will be a tickbox "Run NextSTART at windows Startup" in the NextSTART preferences window and "Run WorkShelf at Windows Startup" in the WorkShelf prefences.

These settings can also be altered in Windows Task Manager in Windows 10 & 11,
(1) Hold down [Ctrl] & [Alt] while pressing [Del].
Windows will respond with displaying a full screen menu.
(2) Select "Task Manager" from the menu
(3) Click the "Startup" tab.
(4) Windows will list all the relevant applications and their startup "status"
(5) You can then change the Status to Enabled for...
(a) "NextSTART" (Winstep Software Technologies); and
(b) "Workshelf" (Winstep Software Technologies) (if you have that installed)

To run the programs from the generic "Start Menu" of Windows 10 & 11, they are located under "W", "Winstep" > "NextStart" & "Nexus".

I would also recommend that SysInternals Autoruns (x64) as well as SysInternals ProcessExplorer (x64) are far more powerful tools than Windows Task Manager.
