Should this be fixed? I'm trying to pin some apps those were downloaded and installed from Windows Store.

The pins are shown with question mark icons, and clicking on them doesn't launch the apps. Nexus launches Windows Explorer (now File Explorer) instead.

This, too, has been covered in the forum before - again, do a search.

I'm not seeing that here, just tried it with a couple of different UWP apps, including the Netflix and Amazon Prime video Apps. They all pin to and launch correctly from the dock.

Which version of Nexus are you running? Which version of Windows? Does this also happen with the Windows calculator App?

I'm using latest Nexus free downloaded from winstep.net.

Windows is Windows 11. The right most app is Windows Terminal and pinned as the question mark in the image below:

Any chance because of the Windows 11 build is an Insider build? (I'm using Windows 11 Insider build channel Dev).

Could be. Microsoft recently has been breaking backwards compatibility with a TON of things that had been working fine for decades (see systray, Windows taskbar, per-process CPU performance, etc). It's almost like they won't be satisfied until nothing works properly anymore.

Anyway, you did not answer my questions directly. Have you already tried pinning the calculator app to the dock? Do you get a question mark with it too?

Oh yes, forgot your question about the default Calculator app of Windows.

It happens the same too, when pinned, it's just a question mark without app binary; clicking on it will open File Explorer instead of Calculator.

Ok, it's possible Microsoft in their infinite wisdom (not!) has decided to once again change something related to UWP apps.

Since nobody makes code based on insider preview versions of Windows (because changes are not yet written in stone) we will just have to wait and see.

Sincerely, I think running an insider version of Windows at this time is just a huge mistake. Microsoft is not listening to the feedback of inside users and even official versions are being released with well known bugs that had already been previously reported multiple times.

And then they take MONTHS to fix those, if ever, since they seem to be more interested in the cosmetic aspect of Windows (and in breaking backwards compatibility and stuff that had been working fine for years) than anything else.

Official releases of Windows 11 these days are like beta versions of Windows of old. Living on the edge, YOLO! lol

yeah, even Windows 11 keeps 2 kinds of context menus in File Explorer, lol

I found out another thing. Rightclicking the running app icon and choose "Pin to dock" from the popup menu fails for Windows Store apps,

but dragging those Windows Store apps from the right side to the pinning area on the left is completed correctly with correct binary locations for the pins. 8)

That is useful information. Guess MS changed something related to the clipboard format of UWP apps. We'll have to wait and see since I don't run inside versions of Windows here.

I'm new here, and I am experiencing the same issue. I am not using the Windows Insider build, though. I am using Windows 11 Home version 22H2. If I try to add any MS apps to Nexus it only adds a blank white square and won't launch the app. It produces an error, "Element not found." Here's a screen grabbed video:

Try dragging the icon to the left side which is pin list of the dock instead of right-click and choose "Pin to dock"

Unfortunately dragging and dropping has the same outcome!

I just tried dragging MS Paint here under Windows 11 22H2 and it worked as it should. Strange how Nexus is not even recognizing the dragged shortcut as a 'Universal App'. What version of Nexus are you running?

Also, how did you open that 'All Apps' folder?
