I added a menu item in NexStart and I linked it to an app. But, there is no option to assign a hotkey for this menu item unlike in Dock or Shelf where items can be assigned a hotkey. Am I missing something here? I'm using version 22.7. Thx

There isn't any hotkey for menu items because menus, by nature and unlike docks, do not remain open all the time.

This said, you CAN assign hotkeys to NextSTART hotspots (which includes Quick Launch hotspots in the Quick Launch section of the NextSTART taskbar).

Thanks Jorge, but I'm confused. Since you said menu items in NexStart cannot have hotkey because they don't remain open all the time, but isn't NexStart running and open all the time in the background because it shows on mouse hover on a hotspot and there is a system tray icon? Just trying to understand.

I'm able to add hotkey for an item in a grid stack I added in NexStart and this workaround is good enough for me.

Also, if not too much trouble can you please respond to my private message to you?
thx.

1) The menu is not permanently open, it only opens when activated from its hotspot.
2) The sys tray icon is only there to let you enable hotspots (if they have for some reason become disabled), open Prefs, Help, and Exit.

As Nexter said, the menus are not permanently open (in fact unless otherwise pinned to the desktop, their existence is temporary and will be closed most of the time).

You can compare this to docks that have been disabled in the Docks & Shelves tab of Preferences - if the dock is not active/visible, any hotkeys assigned to it or any of it's items are also not acted upon.

This is by design.
