Is there a way to make a menu (or sub menu) with no text, icons only? I want to have a couple of always-on-top sort-of-toolbars, using icons, taking up as little real estate as possible. The menu (toolbars) launch high-use apps (grouped by related function, like graphics), so I want them there all the time, but small and not real conspicuous. I'm working from the latest NS demo, WinXP, plenty of RAM (1G) and computing power. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. DW |

Hi Don! Sorry, no, and that is by design. NextSTART was programmed to be a specialized menu system, not a dock. However, have you tried WorkShelf? It takes very little space when in collapsed mode and lets you organize your applications into 'shelves'. Alternatively you can also divide your applications into NextSTART menus and keep the menus rolled up until needed, maybe opening up automatically when the mouses hovers on them. You can also keep your menus hidden and use different hotspots to activate them (hotspots activated, say, by bumping into the top left screen edge, top right screen edge, etc... with the mouse pointer). And finaly, we are currently working on a long forgotten project called 'The NeXus', which is actually... a dock. For the time being the product is still in alpha state, but we will soon start issuing public beta releases. |
