Sorry to be such a noob but I figure the only stupid question is the one that never gets asked. My dad recently passed and I inherited his laptop. It has what is apparently an older version of Winstep on it. God I Love This Tool. I am trying to find out what screen capture program is used in the newer versions so I could integrate it into mine. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanx from a grateful Marine.

Hi Gunny.

I'm very sorry for your loss... :( I hope you don't mind me asking, but what was your dad's name?

As for the screenshot tool in Winstep Xtreme, it's a built-in internal command that is part of WorkShelf and NextSTART, not a separate utility.

Take care,

Thank you Jorge. His name was Herbert. Is there an update or something I can purchase to obtain this feature. Also, are there any kind of tutorials on ways to design themes of my own?

Hi there. I'm also sorry to hear of your loss. I don't mean to highjack your thread, but as you said...

So... What does the internal Capture Desktop command do? I've never used it and thought I'd check it out. I've created a hotspot button for it and don't see what it does. I expected it to be the same as the 'Print Screen' button on a keyboard. But there's nothing in my clipboard. What am I missing?

It doesn't capture to the clipboard - it goes one step further and saves the a screenshot of your desktop into the well, Windows Desktop, as a JPG file.

Send me an email to support@winstep.net and I'll send you a link from where you can upgrade from the old Winstep Full Pak to Winstep Xtreme.

There is a skinning tutorial on the Help section of the Winstep web site. It is very old, though, but should be enough to get you started. :D

Best way is to choose an existing theme, together with a printed list of the bitmap names used which you can find in the NextSTART and WorkShelf User Guides, and experiment to see how the bits and pieces fit together.
