Hey Jorge:

We just moved & my office (& computer) are now within earshot of our bedroom. Every night at 11pm, we hear a female voice announcing the time. I have been trying to figure out for weeks where that voice (within the computer) was coming from. I figured it was not coming from WorkShelf's clock module since that module was closed down. By some stroke of good luck, I decided to look in the Global Preferences tab. I saw that the SILENT PERIOD under Sound & Speech Notification Settings was set from 0 am to 11 pm. So, is this a bug or what? Why was the announcement being made despite the clock being closed? Just curious.

John

Hi John!

11 pm is not inclusive - that is the time speech notifications resume, so you are essentially saying it is ok to say the time from 11 pm to 0 AM.

The reason the clock still announces the time although you closed the Desktop clock module, is because you still have a clock module active somewhere in a shelf or dock.

Since you want speech notifications for the clock OFF, open WorkShelf Preferences and navigate to the Module Preferences tab. Click on the 'More Settings' button. On the 'Clock Settings' dialog that pops up, in the Sound & Misc section set the Interval to 'Never'.

That ought to take care of this issue - sorry for keeping waking you and your wife up at 11 PM every night.
