When I click on a Winshelf TAB, nothing much happens. The shelf with the icons does not rise above the shelf tab. I cannot thus access my programs contained therein.

Does this still happen after re-starting WorkShelf?

Yes, it still happens. Sometimes, the shelf does not even show up.

Can you please give me more information that might be related to the problem and could help me figure out what is wrong? For instance:

1 - Does it only happen with the BIC theme?
2 - Does it happen ALL THE TIME or just sometimes?
3 - How many icon rows do you have your shelf configured to show by default?
4 - Does the problem still happen if you change this?
5 - What icon size are you using for the Shelf?
6 - Does the problem still happen if you change the icon size?
7 - Etc...

This is obviously not a wide spread problem or it would have been fixed ages ago - you'll have to do some 'trouble shooting' yourself so I can get an idea of what might be wrong or even - that would be the ideal - reproduce the problem here.

I love this theme but I am getting very frustrated trying to figure the problem out! I even deleted the old copy, downloaded new copy & installed the new copy. The shelf does not even show up! Nada. Nexus shows up. If I switch back & forth between themes & increase the icon size enough, I can then see part of the shelf but it is the one associated with the previously installed theme (prior to switching to BIC). Does this tell you anything?

Try the following:

Open WorkShelf Preferences and navigate to the Global Preferences tab. Now click the Troubleshoot button in Miscellaneous Options. In the dialog that pops up, click on the Backup button to backup your current settings.

Now click on the Reset Settings Only button. This will reset all your settings to the installation defaults, but leaving the contents of your shelves and docks intact. The theme should revert back to Aero LowRes.

Do you get a working shelf/dock/etc?

If so, try applying the BIC theme again and let me know how it turned out.

I did not get a working shelf after trying your suggestions.

Was that BEFORE or AFTER applying the BIC theme? I downloaded the theme again from WebWicked's site and tried it just to make sure and everything is working fine.

John, you will have to help me in order to help yourself. This is obviously a problem I am unable to reproduce here, and, if it were common, someone else would have complained about it as well.

Unless you start giving me LOTS of information about what you have tried already and a detailed explanation of what happened (or didn't happen, so I know what is working and what is not), I will be unable to help you out. You can start by answering my 6 questions above and detailing, step by step, what happened after you clicked on the 'Reset Settings' button.

With BIC installed, the result of RESET SETTINGS did NOT change the theme to Aero LOw Res. BIC theme remained but with the upper tips of an unidentifiable shelf visible above the task bar. Clicking on the visible portion of the tabs did nothing. The end button was not visible.

Under these conditions, the icon size is 48. If I gradually increase the icon size, the shelf tabs become visible. The theme of these tabs is that of the previously installed theme - not that of BIC. BIZARRE. The end button is visible.

OK, I'm now going to do a restore & load BIC. & answer your questions:

1. Only with BIC
2. Always
3. One
4. Have not found how to change # of rows
5. With icon size of 31, no shelf is visible
6. As icon size is increased, shelf becomes visible with previously
installed theme.

I cannot think of anything else to try. I don't want you or myself to waste too much time over this. I can always bite the bullet & uninstall BIC.

Further observations:

If I switch themes & come back to BIC, no shelf is visible even though icon size remains large. If I then click APPLY in PREFERENCES, shelf & tabs become visible (previously installed theme) & FUNCTIONAL. Hope this helps.
