Post subject:  E-Mail Checker using SSL

I use ATT/Yahoo mail
I can use Pop3 setting through Outlook but the E-Mail checker will not work. It flashes but never comes back with mail. I don't get any errors it just remains at zero. I've set the Pop3 and SSL to port 995 like Outlook. Is this normal for it not to work everything else works great. The weather updates and Winstep has permission through my Firewall. Am I doing something wrong or does it just not work on Att/Yahoo mail?

Do you have Outlook constantly running in the background polling for new mail?

Note that the Email checker will only report messages that are still IN the server (i.e. which haven't been retrieved by your email client yet).

No Outlook is shut down completely after I retrieve messages I don't let it linger in the background. I tried sending my self some test messages from a different computer and to no avail. It seems to be trying to retrieve them. Like I said it just flashes but doesn't come back with a number. I believe the settings are set right. I copied them from Outlook to be safe, and double checked them with the Att/Yahoo site. My Email address ends with @att.net has there been any other problems reported like this? I like the program the rest of it works great, but would really like the Email feature to work also. Is there a windows setting that might interfere with it? Thank you for your help

Sorry. When you right-click on the Email module and select the Yahoo account in the Settings, what does it say in 'Current Account Information'?

Sorry, I had to edit your post to protect your privacy.

I actually meant the information in 'Last Checked:' and 'Response:'.

Response box is empty, hum?

Because the account requires SSL encryption, debuging it from there using Telnet won't work.

The only way I can try to figure this out is if you send me your Login Name and Password *by email* to the support@winstep.net address, but be forewarned that doing so will potentially give me full access to your email account.

Not that I will be reading your email (I'll just try to query the server for the number of outstanding messages from here) but I'll understand perfectly if you are reluctant to share that information with me. Up to you now.

Jorge,

I just made the mistake of switching to AT&T and now have this same problem. Mail Checker always worked flawlessly in the past. Were you ever able to come up with a solution for this?

I am convinced it has something to do with "where" the email is kept. I retrieve my mail from inbound.att.net but I think the email is actually kept at pop.mail.yahoo.com. I tried checking there also but still get no mail found.

Randy

P.S. If it makes a difference, I recently bought an updated copy of Nexus Ultimate just to make sure I had the latest.

My last reply in this thread was 8 years ago, so no, I don't even remember what Zaida chose to do. :)

Anyway, my response to you will have to be the same I gave to her, sorry.

Can you tell me what the "Last Checked" date/time will tell me. Even though Mail Checker is checking for email every 10 minutes that field is not updating.

Do you know if anyone has the Mail Checker working successfully with an AT&T POP account?

i can tell yo a workaround i did when i had problems with getting checker to work with my gmail account, i made a new (@outlook), forwarded my gmail there and used checker to check outlook. it had an added benefit i could use filters in outlook web interface to set which email checker notifies me about

Did that mean you had to keep Outlook open all of the time?
