See? Google keeps making things up lol

Anyway, glad it's working now.

The account works fine in Outlook but the Email Checker gets the "Generic error for access violation"

I had upgraded to Windows 10 some time back. I can't recall whether the Email Checker ever worked afterword. Could that be a factor in this?

Yes, it's also a possibility that the 3rd party DLL used by Winstep for SSL encryption (wodTelnetDLX.DLL) is somehow not working properly or has been replaced by an incompatible version, in which case the error message could be coming from the DLL itself and not from the remote server (which would explain why you get such a quick response). I checked the text messages inside the DLL and it has that exact message.

First make a backup of your settings (you need to do this in *both* WorkShelf and NextSTART!) and save those files in a safe place (i.e.; a folder that has nothing to do with Winstep).

Now re-download Winstep Xtreme from the Winstep web site and try re-installing it *on top* of your current installation (i.e.; do NOT uninstall anything, just exit Winstep Xtreme and then run Setup). See if that fixes the problem.

If not, you might need to fully uninstall the application first and re-install it later, but you have to be careful not to lose themes you downloaded from the net, etc... Anyway, first try re-installing on top then please let me know.

Also, do you have another computer you could install Winstep Xtreme on to compare the results with the same email accounts?

Trying it on a different computer is such an obvious step that I'm totally embarrassed that it never occurred to me. I put it on my work system and that system now has the exact symptom I described earlier. The response is "OK Password required."

I am concluding from all of this that I now have two problems. The original "OK Password required." issue that you indicated you might have a workaround for, and now some sort of corruption in my Winstep installation for which I'll probably need to either swap out that dll or simply reinstall Nexus Ultimate. Does that make sense?

I'm having some difficulty following instructions. I am using Nexus Ultimate. You said to download Winstep Xtreme and install over top of my current installation. I did that and it changed everything. I restored my backup. I downloaded Nexus Ultimate and installed that. It won't accept my license key.

Not entirely sure what I should do.

Cr*p. Sorry, my fault, I didn't check if you were running Nexus Ultimate or Winstep Xtreme and assumed the later, sorry.

Do you still have the setup program for the latest version of Nexus Ultimate?

I have a version. The UltimateSetup.exe has a date of 1/27/2017 11:23 AM on it. I installed that. The version shows 17.01.1064. It, however, still gets the "Generic error for access violation." Response message.

Did you manage to get your license key to work with it?

Antivirus software was killing the mail checker. (Bitdefender Total Security 2018)

Mail checker now working fine. Any way to change the chime? (insert a wav file somewhere?)

Thank you for the help.

Hi Jorge, just a quick summary. The Mail Checker not running turned out to be caused by my antivirus software. I never did get it to work with the messed up protocol on the AT&T server. I finally subscribed to a different email host. All working good now.

Randy, there's a new beta out which should have fixed the issue with AT&T. Can you please test it to make sure and let me know? :D
