Thanks Pyros! Can you show me a screenshot of your desktop as well, so I can see what theme you are using, etc...?

Sorry to say but the problem also happens with XP SP3 :(

I have the dock set at the bottom of the screen and to auto-hide. I've fiddled with many options but it always happens.

Would the backup of the configuration file be of any use?

Ok, time to figure out if Nexus is indeed the culprit.

All those affected by this problem please download the following 7 Kb file:

http://www.winstep.net/foretester.zip

Unzip, put the included foretester.exe application inside the C:\Program Files\Winstep\ folder and then run it.

This 7 Kb mini-application will constantly monitor the current foreground application and add an entry to a list box every time it changes. Once you've managed to reproduce the problem, the last entry in the list should be the name of the application stealing the focus. Click on the Stop button, take a screenshot of the foretester application and post it here please. :D

Aaaaaaaaaaargh!

So it *is* the dock. No running away from it now.

Anyway, thanks. One more question: if you restart Windows, does this happen immediately *even* if you do not mouse over the dock first?

Yes, just tried it. It does it before I have any interaction with the dock.

Oh boy. That makes no sense to me.

Ok, one more thing, sorry. What if you move the dock somewhere else on the screen instead of docking it at the bottom (try undocking it and leave it 'floating' in the middle of the desktop)? Does that make any difference? And what if you try a different theme?

Ah, got to add that this is the only thing preventing me from making a new Nexus dock release.

Ok, just tried it. Position makes no difference. :(

Alright, make me another favor then, please: open Nexus Preferences, go to the Advanced tab and make a Backup of your Nexus settings. Please send the resulting file to the Winstep support address so I can have a look at it and see if it might have something to do with your current settings.

Ok.... I'm sure it's right here in front of me somewhere, but what's the support address?

Bad news, sorry. Even after applying your settings, I still cannot reproduce the problem here (Win7 64 bit RC 7100).

If I can't reproduce it here, I have no idea what is wrong and therefore I can't fix it.

My guess is that it's something system specific (like, for instance, Logitech's Setpoint causing menus to become blank under 64 bit versions of Windows).

Can everybody affected by this problem post your system details here to see if I can find a pattern (CPU, Graphics card, OS version, if 32 or 64 bit, mouse drivers and anything else you might find relevant)?
