Post subject:  Bug in Nexus 9.8 with Windows 7

I'm using Nexus 9.8 Beta on Windows 7 RC v7100.
I want to inform a bug to you.

There is something going strange with the windows original desktop icons when using Nexus.
When nexus is running, "selecting" or "right-clicking" the windows icons does not do the job properly.
After a double-left-click on an empty area of the desktop, it starts to act as it should.
Without double-clicking on an empty area, nexus bug intervenes.

I can confirm this bug in the final version of Windows 7, x64 in my case.
Highly annoying and no matter what settings I change that might impact this behaviour, it can not be resolved.

Looking forward to a new (fixed) release. :)

What does 'not do the job properly' mean? What exactly happens?

Also, do you guys have Nexus set to display running tasks?

I don't have tasks displayed in Nexus, no.

No matter what I do, whichever setting I change, the behaviour the original poster described persists.
When you click a desktop icon, it gets unselected immediately. Same if you highlight several objects on the desktop, they get unselected immediately i.e. Nexus steals the focus. This makes it very hard to do anything with stuff on the desktop.

I can agree Assmonkey completely. The objects (icons) on the desktop get unselected immediately no matter what you do (Until you double-click to an empty area on the desktop). It cannot be avoided and it simply makes the program a headache.

Does this happen even if Nexus is collapsed (i.e. hidden beyond the screen edge) ?

Yes, it does. Nothing fixes the problem.

Ok guys, I'm going to need your help on this one. I'm typing this from Windows 7 RC Build 7100 x64 and I am absolutely unable to reproduce the focus problem here.

Can you please post a screenshot of your desktops to see if I can find a pattern on your dock usage?

Also, does Nexus immediately take the focus away from desktop icons even after restarting Windows (i.e. without having moused over Nexus yet)? From a clean Windows restart, can you please give me the steps to reproduce this problem?

Ok i was looking here to find if there's any thing i can do to prevent Aero peek from hiding the dock in windows 7 so i found this post and decided to help.

I also have this bug since i installed the dock two days ago, what this bug do is that if hold the mouse and select my folders on the desktop it will not select anything. but if i left click on the desktop twice everything will be fine again. I found that to 100% reproduce the bug all you have to do is open or maximize any active window then minimize it back (while the dock is running of course) now if you try to drag the mouse and select the file and folders without left clicking on the desktop first you will reproduce the bug.

If you still can't reproduce it tell me and i will try to get a video if i can.

Rai, thanks for your offer to help, much appreciated.

One question: do you have Logitech's Setpoint running on your computer? If so, could you please exit it and see if the behavior persists then let me know?

Thanks,

Post subject:  Same Problem

I also am having the same problem. Nexus steals focus of desktop, can not select a desktop icon. I do not have Logitech's Setpoint installed.

Thanks, I'll try to reproduce the problem here next time I boot into Win7, this time following Rai's instructions.

Ok, I still can't reproduce it.

Perhaps it's something specific to how you guys are running Nexus and common to all of you... Anyway, is that video offer still up, please?

Ok.....Here is a small desktop video I just took. In the video I am clicking on the icons, then moving my mouse away from the icon. Also, I highlight both icons using drag and then move my mouse away. Hope this helps, let me know if you need more.
