there is may be a wrong dialog? (or can be missinterpreted)

Winshelf is docked to bottom.
Nexus is docked to top.

Now i configure nexus to also dock to bottom.

A Dialog is appearing:

Title: Docking to Screen Edge
Sorry, the shelf is already attached to the requested screen edge! Please choose another screen edge or undock the shelf first...

I think this dialog is missleading because it says, that the nexus shelf is already docked to bottom, but it is docked to top.

Better would be:

Sorry, there is already a shelf docked to this screen edge.....

Nah, the dialog is right. The 'Shelf' is docked to the bottom. The other object (which is docked at the top) is a 'Dock'.

Nexus is configured to be docked to top and autohide. If autohidden, you don't see anything from the dock.

Now configure nexus to be undocked. Now if autohide is active you still see the dock with one icon, the nexus icon.

Bug or feature?

Sorry, Thorsten, forgot to reply to this one:

Feature. When Nexus is floating, it isn't attached to a particular screen edge, so there is no edge to bump to make it come back. Therefore, the control icon is always visible when you collapse a floating dock so you have some means of uncollapsing it.

Beta 3 is now online, by the way. Just use the same URL disclosed at the begining of this thread.

For translators: after installing the latest beta, I need a translation for the phrase 'Indicator Offset from icon reflection?' (i.e. how far is the running indicator from the begining of the icon reflection) which you can find in the Appearence tab of the dock Properties dialog.

Hi Jorge,

there is may be one more bug regarding scaling in Win7 and the new setup-screens in Winstep.

In Vista and Win7 there is in the control panel a configuration for the screen for helping of the readingness. Here you can scale the complete Screen by 100% (default), 125% and 150%. I think you will now find this option.

Select here 125% and logout and in for the change. Now you see, all the Windowframes and Fonts are 25% larger.

Now select the Preferences of Workshelf.
On Top you see the tabs "Docks&Shelves", "Modules", "Themes".....
The point here is selecting/switching the tabs.
Concentrate to most top area of the tab. Clicking here has no result so that you must move your mouse in the vertical middle of a tab bevor you can select it. Sometimes it is below the vertical middle.

Example:

Select Docks&Shelves
Select the Dock Area
Click on the Properties button
The Dock Properties Screen is popping up
The first Tab Position & Behavior is selected.
Now try to activate the Tab "Effects"
Click with the mouse above the "E" but within the Area of the Tab... nothing will happen.

Click now in the lower 50% area (vertical) and it is working.

Hope you can find a workarround.

Thorsten

I am quite confused. Evidently 9.10 is later than 9.5 - even though 9.10 can be read as 9.1 which is "lower" than 9.5!!! Furthermore, it is stated that the new WS GUI is introduced with 9.10. However, I have version 9.7 which has the new GUI. What's going on?

Also, someone asked how the icons at the bottom of the screen get to be placed on a "shelf"? I did not see an answer & would love to know how!

Thanks.

9.10 is larger than 9.5, and 10 is definitely not 1.

Don't forget Xtreme version numbers represent Year.Month, so 9.10 means that particular version came out on October 2009 (give or take a month for convenience reasons).

As for the new GUI, anything after the current 9.5 official version features it. I know it can be a bit confusing, but until the final 'official' release version numbers will keep on changing as time goes by (e.g. beta 1 was 9.7, beta 2 was 9.8, etc...). Then we also have private and public beta releases...! Just focus on the version numbers and you will be fine (i.e. 9.10 is greater than 9.7 and so on).

Also, what icons at the bottom of the screen?

You mean the icons on the Nexus dock placed at the bottom of the screen? I'm sorry, John, I don't understand your question - why should they behave any different from other icons? Just left click and drag, pressing CTRL if you want to copy rather than move them...

May be John meen the theme itself?
If you see the look from nexus as it is by installing winstep and you look to these "standup Icons" you may not see the relation to a winstep app?

John, this is a theme for Nexus, you may be ask the person from whom you have seen the picture which theme he has used. The rest you can read under "help" in the Winshelf preference screen... an outstanding documentation.
Regards Thorsten

Winshelf? heheh :D

Anyway, thanks Thorsten, I probably didn't understand what John really wanted. John, you must start being more explicit and detailed, otherwise you're going to drive me up a wall trying to figure out what you mean!

Gawd! I'm tired - that #%#"% flu really took its toll on me. Sigh.

"The ones that show up in some of the "post your WS desktop" (see Hedrush's)".

I don't see how I could have been more explicit!

I think Hedrush used a dock theme: "LEOPARD XTREME". I have no idea how to install non-WinStep Nexus themes. Could someone help me out here.
Also, how do I search for dock themes (for example at WinCustomize)?

Thanks.
