Tried, but no difference. It's interesting: When I relocate the Workshelf to the top, Impulse dock still remains at midscreen, but when I exit winstep, Impulse immediately snaps back to the top of the Windows taskbar.

The impulse dock isn't at fault because I can close it and open WSX and it still opens at midscreen and Nexus locates between the top og the WS and the top of the screen.

It's as if WS sees my mid-screen as "bottom".

Just to clarify: if you disable all the Reserve Screen Space/Prevent Maximized Windows from Overlapping... options in both NextSTART and WorkShelf you don't get this behavior, right?

I'm using the new interface and am really unclear where I'd find those options.

I've changed nothing from the baseline (default) installation settings.

Can you figure out how to undock the NextSTART taskbar (former Startbar, hehe) and the Shelf? That will have the same effect.

When I undock (float) the taskbar and WS, both can fill the space of the w7 taskbar at the bottom of the screen. If I undock the taskbar the WS will go all the way to the bottom (but the taskbar will be floating. The Impulse dock goes lower as does Nexus.

But, when I open ie, it will only go to where the top of the W7 taskbar would have been.

I think somethings reserving space...but I don't know what.

But just to be clear, that isn't solving the problem because that isn't how I want my desktop to look, Jorge.

No....
Wait til tomorrow before answering...
I want the Nexstart Taskbar on the botton, and the WS on top of it. I want the Nexus dock on the right in the center of the screen, and I don't want the Impulse dock up near the center of the screen....I want it on top of the Workshelf.

Doc, I'm looking into this right now, can you please send me a few screenshots to the Winstep support address?

First make sure no docks are docked to a screen edge. Now maximize a window (any window) and keep it open and maximized while you take the screenshots: this will tell me how much screen space is being reserved.

Now please send me a screenshot with the NextSTART taskbar and the Shelf docked.

And another with the Shelf docked but not the NextSTART taskbar.

And another with the NextSTART taskbar docked but not the Shelf.

Finally, exit NextSTART (so the Windows taskbar becomes visible) and undock the Shelf. Send me a screenshot of this too, please.

Thanks in advance,

For the benefit of others, Doc's issue was because he changed the Windows DPI settings. When this happens, Windows will lie to applications making them believe the screen size is something else than it really is, which caused all the problems Doc was seeing.

Solution is setting the Windows DPI settings back to default (100%).

Otherwise, to disable DPI virtualization for a single application, right-click the name of the application executable file, click Properties, click the Compatibility tab, and then select the box labeled Disable display scaling on high DPI settings. You might then run into weird issues with the size of graphics and controls in the Preferences screens.
