 Post subject: Is Desktop Window Manager (dwm.exe) required to run Winstep?

I wonder if Winstep Extreme will loose functionallity if WDM.EXE is disabled?
Whats the consequense of disabling DWM.EXE? Cus I feel running two desktop managers is not a good idea?

what other desktop manager are you running?

If you are talking about Winstep Extreme, I don't consider this a desktop manager (Jorge can correct me)...it only "adds to" or "enhances" your desktop experience....it does not replace the current desktop manager.

At least that is my take. :D

No, Xtreme is not a Desktop Manager, and yes, it works propertly even if DWM is disabled. In fact, it keeps on working as it should even if you (or another application) disable DWM while in operation.

Ok, I tried it and just the aero feature is lost.

Can Winstep replace this aero feature somehow? so that I still can get see-tru bars?
Is there a theme that comes close?
