Hi everyone,

New to this forum but have used Winstep for a while.

Hmm - can't find a post about the problem I have. All of a sudden the "weather forecast" data in the weather module has a shadow effect to the text. Can't figure out how to turn it off. It's not an option in "advanced skinning options."

It's not a feature of the master theme nor have I changed themes. Just sorta happened all of a sudden. Not sure what I did to cause it, if anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Chris

Not sure if this could be it, but did you change anything related to ClearType on your system?

Jorge,

Thank you for responding. I don't know what "Cleartype" is?

Thanks, Chris

It's a way of rendering text. Read HERE.

Anyway, what Winstep Xtreme version, what Windows version, what theme, and any chance of a screenshot?

Jorge,

The version is 9.5. I'm running windows XP Service Pack 3. I have a screen shot but am not sure how to attach it. The theme is GT3.

Well, in that case send the screenshot to the Winstep support address, please.

And what are you doing still running 9.5?

Assuming you're a registered Winstep user, you should get membership to the Beta Discussion forums (see first post on Annoucements forum) and get the latest Winstep Xtreme beta. It will blow your socks off.

Did you change the WsWeather background bitmap to PNG?

Jorge,

I did alter the WsWeather background bmp several weeks ago. But it was in bmp format. The shadow text problem started a couple days ago, not sure what I did.

Should I unload the GT3 theme and reload it from the original zip file?

Thanks, Chris

Ok, rename WorkShelf.exe to WorkShelf2.exe and NextSTART.exe to NextSTART2.exe (this will enable you to run those versions whenever you need to do some changes to a particular skin until the Winstep Theme Designer or whatever-it-will-be-called comes along).

Now upgrade to 10.1 and see if that makes the issue go away (I seem to vaguelly remember me and Tiggz having a discussion about this problem, but it was a long time ago, sorry).

Jorge,

I'll give that a try and see if it works.

Thanks, Chris
