I'm using Winstep Extreme latest version with all features turned on under Windows 7 64 bit.

The only trouble I have is with hibernation. When the pc is restarted from hibernation sometimes one or the other Winstep component will be stuck and not-working.

For instance it may be the dock with a white contour around it and nothing happening when I hover or click icons.

Is this a known bug, or can I do something about it?

Could be the multi-media timer used by the dock firing constantly to make up for the time the PC was in hybernation (although I specifically added code to prevent this).

Could you please try one thing? Hybernate your PC, let it rest for a minute or so and then return to Windows again. If the dock is 'stuck', does it get unstuck after waiting a while?

Ok, the next time it happens I'll try that out and report.

Don't forget, the idea is that you hibernate your system on purpose but only for a very short while. :D

It happened, and I waited and you were right. After 2-3 minutes everything got unstuck.

This time it was the dock and the gadgets which were stuck.

I'd say it happens with about a 25-30% frequency.

Ok, thanks for the information... I'll have a look at the multimedia timer code again, although I remember adding code to prevent the timer from firing when entering a power saving mode.

If that really is what is happening (and judging by your description I believe so) then, when resuming from hibernation, the timer will fire as many times as it should have had while the system was in hibernation, flooding the program with event requests and temporarily freezing it in the process.

Too bad you can't make it sending those to /dev/null/ :(

Ok, thanks. I hope you can find a way around this, I bought the software about a month ago and I want to keep using it because it's absolutely great, but this is quite a nuisance.

Ok, try the following:

1. Exit all Winstep applications.

2. Download

http://www.winstep.net/WsxMMTimer.zip

3. Unzip the dll inside into C:\Program Files (x86)\Winstep\

4. Run Winstep Xtreme again

5 .Hibernate your computer

6. Report back if the change solved the issue, please.

In the mean time I also fixed another issue where parts of Winstep Xtreme might not be visible when returning from hibernation.

Also, to clarify: you're running Winstep Xtreme 10.3, right?

Hey, I'm back, tried it out. After 7 tries, there was no freeze!

So it seems to work, I'll let it roll for a few days but you've probably nailed it.
Thanks for all the help.
