Hi, I have a strange problem with Nexus Dock. Everytime I launch a game, the game start up normal, and when I click on the game screen, it get minimized back to system tray in windows. I then have to click on the minimized icon again to get into the game. With some games there is also another, more complex problem... It seems like some games won't start up and stay in fullscreen mode when Nexus Dock is active. Most recent games that have this problem is Battlefield Bad Company 2 and Just Cause 2. Here also the game screen starts to flicker/blink like h... from the in game screen and back to desktop and so on.

I do not have these problems when Nexus Dock is closed. Everything is back to normal then.

Hope anyone here can help me?

Had that issue a couple times as well, but after like 5 times it went away. Only in BF BC2 though, in Just Cause 2 I didn't experience this problem... But that was a while after BF BC2.

Hope you can fix it... I couldn't figure out what the hell was causing the issue exactly but something did.

Zebulon, give the Nexus v10.4 pre-release, which you can download from HERE, a try to see if it solves your problem and then please let me know ASAP.

Thank you Jorge:-).

Downloaded and installed the Nexus v10.4 pre-release, and guess what.. The problem with fullscreen and blinking screen is gone :) . I can now launch BF BC2 and Just Cause 2 without these problems. However, the problem with game-screen being minimized back to system tray in windows 7 does still occur on some games. But this is not a big problem for me, as I just have to click once more on the minimized icon to get back into the game. To describe this problem better:

1: I click on the game icon and it launches
2: The game screen has loaded
3: When I click on the game screen the first time, it gets minimized back to the sys tray in windows 7.
4: I click on the minimized icon, and get back into the game.

Point 3 has left me a bit baffled.

Does it make any difference if the game is launched from Nexus or not?

No it doesn't. It also happens if I launch the game from outside Nexus. But as said, this only occur with some games, for instance Football Manager 2010. If Nexus is closed, this does not happen.

Question: do you have the dock displaying the tasklist (list of running applications)?

Ok, found it. By default the "show running applications as window thumbnails" are checked. Under grouping it says "no tasklist grouping". Do you want me to change something here?

Actually, I'm experiencing the very same issue on some games... Thought it wasn't related to Nexus but it might turn out to be...
I have only a shelf running, with a systray in it and several tabs of shortcuts.

Hello I am having a similar issue with several games. I am an avid gamer as well as mapper & modder for many of the games I play.

I have experimented with several types of older & newer games from Command & Conquer Generals thru C&C 4 also I tested Call of Duty United Offensive up to CoD Black Ops and finally Battlefield Vietnam,Battlefield 2 as well as Bad Company 2 all experience the same issue, when the game fires up the focus remains on the desktop almost as if the game is instantly minimized to the taskbar. The game resumes functionality when Workshelf is either exited or terminated from Task Manager.

I am running the current version of Winstep as well as the latest drivers for my PC.

My system specs are as follows:

AMD QuadCore Phenom II X4 810
8183 MB (DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM)
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 1Gig Memory
Barracuda 7200.12 SATA 3Gb/s 750GB Hard Drive
Catalyst Software Suite version 11.3 (3/29/2011)
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with SP1
WinSTEP 11.2

I have nearly the same system specs as you (Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit with SP1, ATI 5970+5870, etc...) and I don't get that.

A few questions:

1. What happens if you click on the taskbar button for the game even while WorkShelf is running? The game resumes working, right?

2. Are you launching your games from the Shelf or from a dock?

3. Does the same thing happen if you launch the game from the Start Menu?

4. Exactly what do you mean by 'the game resumes functionality'?

No it does not, the screen flashes & for a moment the game is full screen but quickly returns to a "minimized" state.

Neither. But when I did try launching from Nexus I have the same results as launching from Desktop and Start Menu

Yes it does.

If I end the WorkShelf.exe*32 process in Task Manager or right-click on the taskbar Workshelf icon and select Exit, then the game pops into fullscreen mode.

I assume with your hardware that the games do not change the native screen resolution, right?

Let's try the following then:

Download my little 'focus stealing' tester application from http://www.winstep.net/foretester.zip and unzip somewhere, then run the .exe inside it.

It will tell you which window is currently the foreground window. With it running, launch the game, then, as soon as it minimizes, check the tester window to see which application stole the focus and caused the game to minimize.
