No, it's not a bug, you're just not 'getting' the purpose.

First, you can't move items to a 'Control Panel' tab type.

Second, the idea is to make it somewhat convenient to add shortcuts to the 'Regular' tabs on the Shelf because for Regular tabs you do not then have to take the extra step of deciding if you want to copy, move or create shortcuts to the files. They are all shortcuts. Otherwise, drag & drop is faster and much more convenient.

Where I think the 'Send to WorkShelf' is more useful is in making Shelf tabs out of folders in Explorer windows, though.

ok i see where you're going. is there a easy way to convert the tabs i have to regular tabs, perhaps create a replacement one by one and then delete the old tab?

The 'old' tabs you have are really folders in your hard drives.

So, open one of those folders, create a new Regular tab with the same name on the Shelf, then drag the contents of that folder into the new Regular tab. This will create shortcuts in the Regular tab to all the items on that folder, and you can then delete the equivalent 'Show Folder' tab.

However, be warned that Regular tabs can only contain shortcuts. Any file you drag & drop there from then on will ALWAYS be a shortcut to the original file. Furthermore, if you make changes to the original folder, they will not be reflected in the Regular tab (because Regular tabs are in no way associated to folders, they're just like docks).

Provided you fully understand the above, you should be good to go. I do advise you to make a backup of WorkShelf settings in the Advanced tab of WorkShelf Preferences before you start changing things around, just in case. :-)

ok sounds like i'm better off the way i am. cause if i understand you correctly i go to comp, d, downloads, internet add a new file, close everything, click on the shortcut on the tab and i will not see the file i just added. that's prob why i started doing tabs this way and just forgot over the years. thanks for the info it will still come in handy for other people i got to use winstep products.

Yes, that's what I like about answering questions in the forums vs. email. More people benefit from the answers. :D
