Yes, unfortunately there is a bug in the 10.4 version that causes it not to load that setting correctly at startup, in effect disabling it every time Nexus is restarted.

My apologies for the inconvenience - this issue has been fixed already for the next release.

Good question. Nexus 10.4 was released just a couple of weeks ago and it hasn't even been officially announced yet, as the announcement will be made in conjunction with that of Nexus Ultimate availability (currently in the process of updating the web site to feature the latter).

If you would like the extra features in Nexus Ultimate and don't mind paying for them, you can be one of the first to upgrade - the initial version doesn't have this bug.

You can read a bit more about Nexus Ultimate HERE.

See, that is not what I said at all. I said *if you like the extra features*.

As I mentioned, the bug has been fixed already, I only pointed a quick way out *if* the extra features were worth it to you. Sorry, but I just can't initiate a full release cycle for every bug fixed/new feature added.

That bug was also not put there on purpose to force users to upgrade to Nexus Ultimate (have a quick look around the forums and you'll realize how much I hate it when a bug is exposed only after a fresh release).

Nobody said a bug was put there on purpose, only that a fix is apparently already made, but NOT being made available except in the paid version!

For now! And the only reason the fix is available in Nexus Ultimate is because Ultimate is brand new (not even officially announced yet) and therefore a later build than the free Nexus version. Believe it or not, I was trying to be helpful - I deeply regret it now seeing how you decided to take it the wrong way and make it look like I was trying to profit from a bug.

If this were a problem caused by a bit of rogue code, something hard to spot, that would be fair enough. But this is an actual user control, which does not function. How the heck can something like that escape basic testing?

The feature *does* work, it's the setting that is not retained between restarts! Although important to you, it's obviously a setting that I personally don't use and neither do the Winstep beta testers - they tested the feature, it worked, and then turned it off (therefore preventing the bug from becoming self evident after restarting Nexus).

That feature (and the bug) was actually already present in v10.3, but, because in v10.3 the setting was 'buried' in the Advanced Behavior Settings dialog and therefore less visible, it wasn't used much (if at all) and the bug wasn't reported until AFTER v10.4 being released.

Also, you have no idea how complex an application like Nexus really is. With applications of this size, sometimes even the simple act of fixing a bug can cause another (sometimes more serious) to appear somewhere else. No software company can possibly re-test *every single feature* every time a new release is made (you have to trust you didn't do anything that broke a previously existing - and tested - feature) so yes, bugs do happen, and I try to fix them as soon as they are reported.

Also, I think I've found another problem. Whenever the way the speaking clock works is altered, it stops speaking on the hour until the program is closed and restarted.

Can you provide the steps to reproduce the problem here, please?

Thanks,

Nathan, you can download a new version of Nexus (silent update), which fixes the 'do not flip' bug, from

http://www.winstep.net/nexus.zip

As for the clock voice problem you reported, my apologies but, given the lack of details, I was not able to replicate it here.

Ooops.

Looks like I accidentaly deleted a couple of legit accounts when purging the board from spammers.

No idea how this happened! Nathan, I assure you it was not on purpose, please re-create your account and let me know via Winstep support if your address was accidentaly added to the ban list.

I need a vacation! Sigh.
