I decided to stop running Winstep while I track down a Windows Explorer problem I have been having. The problem now is I can't get Windows to use the full screen. It still acts as if I'm reserving the area where NextStart and the WorkShelf used to reside. I didn't do an uninstall, just removed it from my startup programs.

Shouldn't happen at all. Regardless, this might sound like a silly question, but have you tried rebooting already? If so and the problem persists, fire up the Windows Task Manager: do you see workshelf.exe or nextstart.exe listed in the Processes tab?

I rebooted right after I shutdown winstep because the problem appeared immediately. Just checked task amanger, neither is running.

Some additional detail: If I click the full screen button on an app window it does go full screen, I'm just unable to stretch it to full size either pulling down or by the cornere, although my cursor does change properly to a resize arrow.

My reason for not running winstep is at least once a day my disk drives open as blank windows, with barely a visible window frame. Also, the standard start menu only displays my user icon and nothing else, although if I click somwhere in the vicinity it will activate whatever I've clicked on. I wanted to test the problem with fewer add ons.

For now, I'm back to uusing ObjectDock+ 2.0 beta and it seems to be working without the blank windows.

If neither is running, then the problem is not caused by Winstep Xtreme *at all*, as I suspected. And, probably, neither are the other issues.

What Windows version are you running, by the way?

I found the problem:

The windows not stretching issue appears to be caused by a MyColors Think Green theme error. I didn't notice it with Winstep running because it was already reserving the space.

Using either normal Vista Aero or MyColors Quest theme work fine in full window for now with just OD+ so I will run it a few days longer and see if the original problem (the "blank" drive windows) stays away. Then I'll restore winstep and try again.

Thanks for your help.

Well, thanks for letting me know. Ah, and if you see blank (default) icons everywhere, that would be a Icon Packager bug.
