For the XP users still among us, can we get Transparent window borders (Aero)like Vista and Windows 7? I know there are programs out there that will do it for you (BorderSkin, Tweakwindow), but they are buggy, and don't work well. I'd rather have something integrated in Winstep, then something that is yet another software installation.

I think Windowblinds has this feature and I know Winstep Xtreme is implemented quite differently from WB, so not trying to make this a versus match but would be nice all the same.

There is a reason why a very popular program like WB has no competitors even now (after all these years) and why the programs you mentioned are buggy: skinning other windows is an extremelly complex thing to do, which much catter for all versions of the OS and, even more importantly, must have an internal database of quirks and exceptions which can only be gathered by years of experience.

Also, nobody will invest a huge amount of time making an application or feature for a Windows version that is, to be blunt, obsolete and dying.

Well I will agree it's dying, but obsolete...nooooo. :) Windows XP still controls about 70% of the Market share( http://blogs.computerworld.com/14655/mi ... _use_drops and http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2368945,00.asp ). Windows XP will still be supported by Microsoft until 2014 (http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/ ... gb&C2=1173). So yes, while it is dying in popularity, it is still the most popular. I am also forced to run Windows XP as it my company's OS of choice.

I confess, the only reason I bought a license for Winstep, was to give me that new computer feel, but true transparency is all that I lack. Thanks for replying though.

Winstep is still supporting XP (and even Windows 2000), mind you, just not going to drop development of much higher (and useful) priority features to work on an extremelly complex and time consuming feature which would not only have problems with many applications (and therefore be called 'buggy') as it would only benefit XP users. :P

Your 70% XP user numbers are a bit out of date. The following was just taken from Winstep's own visitor stats:

1. 7 47.89%
2. XP 42.68%
3. Vista 8.91%

The numbers of XP users are dwindling, and fast.

If you really want such a feature, then buy WB from Stardock and use it together with Winstep Xtreme (many Winstep users do just that). Stardock has 10+ years of experience working on *just* skinning windows, while that was never the scope of Winstep applications.
