I've been modifying some themes to suit personal taste and cannot find documentation on the 8-digit color codes used.

You really should wait just a little while longer for the Winstep Theme Builder application to become available. Editing configuration files directly is not recommended and can even cause Winstep applications to crash (since editing values directly by-passes GUI validation).

This said, you'll understand the numbers better if you convert them to hexadecimal first: &HBBGGRR. The most significant byte holds the Blue color component, the second the Green, and the least significant byte the Red; or, in decimal, Color Number = Blue * 65536 + Green * 256 + Red

So far I haven't crashed the program with direct edits. Mostly colors, spacing, and image edits. The file structures are really pretty easy to work with.
