While (in general) I really like the forum color scheme - indeed your whole website is very easy to navigate and useful - the blue and light grey text on the blue-grey background is somewhat hard for me to make out.

Is is possible (without being a royal pain in the rump) to add an additional color scheme where the text is darker?

For example, in the attached "forumtetext.jpg" the text on the left side (Subject, Message Body) and in "forumtetext2.jpg" the topic titles.

Granted, this could be a monitor issue on my end, but things look ok when I use open office or ms office.

Thanks

JS

Looking into this.

What do other people think?

Always nice to have multiple options. Myself I find them well readable but there are people that have a harder time reading them. It is important to offer those people an alternative in my opinion.

I don't think it's too bad as is, but a little more contrast between text and background would be fine with me too. (Personally I think I might be just a little bit color-blind.)

If the monitor isn't particularly sharp it doesn't help either. I've got 2 monitors, same make and model, bought from the same store about 3 months apart, one is visibly sharper than the other, doesn't adjust out. Go figure.

I agree. A little more contrast would improve readability.

Ok, I'll ask Johanne to look into this as soon as she has the time. There won't be an alternative color scheme though, so any changes will be global to all users.

Jorge,

I just wanted to tickle this post so it doesn't fall between the cracks. Those of us who qualify as OTD(Older Than Dirt) need all the help we can get to make things more legible.

Thanks for your great support,
Grouch

Personally I don't see any problems with the forum as it is now (as a matter of fact, this is ne of the cleanest phpBB themes I've seen.

Accessibility-wise, though, it is a good idea to have a high-contrast theme available :)

Johanne is pretty busy with another project these days, I've contact her to see when she can schedule a high contrast version of this forum.

Ok, users who have problems with the default style can now go to their Profile (top of the page) and change the style to 'Winstep_Darker'.

Hope this solves the problem, and my apologies for how long it took to fix it. :D

Just throwing this out there, as the site I run uses a CMS as well (vBulletin though but phpBB is basically the same without all the bloat crap I don't use in vB) something as simple as a style modification to the CSS shouldn't take longer then it does to make a simple change and verification that it went through globally to all parts of the forum. Hell, ya need an instant fix like that and I could do it usually the same day, wouldn't expect any kind of payment for that either, simple coding I enjoy and that benefits all. Obv PHP changes/additions (which I do as well, albeit I'm sure there's a lot of people here better than I at it) I would have to discuss about, but quick one-hitters like that feel free to message me, glad to help so you can keep on your focused projects :)

**Obviously like a noob I never checked out the profile options here anyways, off to see the style options

Yeah, that is what she did (change the CSS). Quick job too, the problem wasn't the time that it took, but her finding the time to do it, as she was neck deep busy with other projects at the time. :D
